Have you experienced numbness in your fingers? You may have something more going on within the body than you think… Dr. Brad explains the Top 3 reasons you might have numbness in your hands and fingers.

Numbness is one of the four primary signs of nerve irritation ( Pain, Numbness, tingling, weakness). This nerve irritation can occur in the wrist and hand, but more often than not, the problem can be traced further up in the nervous system–at the elbow, shoulder, or even at the neck.

The base of the neck is more prone to injury than other parts of the body. With the head weighing 10-15lbs and sitting on the neck, improper posture puts pressure on the nerves at the base of the neck, and can cause a quicker degeneration in this area. Degeneration and pressure or irritation of nerves can lead to numbness in the hands and fingers. Continuous pressure from consistent bad posture can cause lasting injuries if left uncorrected.

It is important to consider your posture and placement of your head in relation to your shoulders, when experiencing tingling in your hands.

Other conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome and more serious conditions that cause a biochemical change in the body (such as diabetes and multiple sclerosis) can also lead to numbness in the hands and fingers.
