Don't forget the Limit Slip Differential (LSD), you only get them with the M-cars if you don't look for after market parts.

very correct, if you go through the tech training manual of an M car, you'll come across numerous under the skin changes versus a non m car. Extra cooling for the gearbox oil, wider suspension track, different brake discs, extra body bracing to enhance torsional rigidity, different suspension geometry, re-calibrated stability control etc etc etc

328: I'm getting a BMW just so others see I have a BMW.

335: I want a super fast luxury car. I'm not rich. I don't care about having the latest and greatest.

M3: I want a cool looking car. Sounds good but above all is a great performer. Top dog best of the best, has to be.

I actually bought a e92 m3 around the time you sold yours. Coming from a e46 330, I can confirm what you said. You cannot really feel that much of a difference in a straight line when comparing tuned non-M and stock M. But try getting them on track and the M will crush the non-M. Its light years ahead. The responsiveness, the handling, the agility, the grip and initial turn, the balance. Its that much of a difference!

As someone who had the “Walmart” start in life. I don’t consider myself inferior to any other human being.

You don’t have to be defined by where you start in life and having a harder upbringing can actually make you a tougher and harder working person.

Seeing people who have a more affluent start in life as automatically “better” then a working class or poorer person is a really narrow minded outlook.

Some of the most successful people in business started out from a very underprivileged back round. If you have the drive and determination you can achieve anything in life. That’s what I teach my son.

U got it wrong, most 335 owners, such as myself, see that for daily drive ability the m3 is a waste, the power comes in at higher rpms because it's track focused. The 335s are designed to give you that sporty feel at lower Rpms, where you'd be using them mostly on daily commutes or daily drives. The m3 is a great car don't get me wrong I've had an e46 and e92, but honestly from personal experience the 335 is more fun if you aren't hitting the track every week or month. My two cents

You are absolutely right, a lot of guys tell me a tuned 335i is as good as the M3 I had, I told him if you tune one you have to tune the other to get a equal comparison. He said no then it’s the same if both are not tuned, I said that’s why the M3 is just a better car

Now I drive a 2016 M4. Five years ago I bought a 2008 335i. Sold the 335i and bought a one of a kind M235i with specially painted M-perfornace part with all the interior M-performance details. So why did I sell my M235i after 6month... Because I took a M4 for a long testdrive! You can´t tune a 435i to M-car standards(or it is going to cost you more than the car, and still its not a M-car). If you don´t agree/understand, then you do not need a M car. Watch the youtube video "BMW M4 - Technology Workshop". The body stiffness and solid mount of wheel axis, together with the M-LSD, and the engine is just superior any tuned non M-car. And the gauges and other extras in the M-car can´t not be done aftermarket in a non M-car. It is more than straight line punch and the M-badge on the trunk. And the M-DCT and M-steering is just so much better than what you get in a non M-car today.

You know, I sold my e92 2011 335i and bought a 2013 e92 M3 and the two don't even compare. While the 335i is an awesome car, the M3 is on a league of it's own, the car commands respect. It's a beast that I love and I think I will keep for a very long time. It's an outstanding piece of machinery.

For me, if you track its M 1/2/3/4/5, if you want a cruiser get a non M, but M sport do look nice. Then be happy with your purchase, choose the car you can live with, be that fuel costs, tracking costs, or daily driving vs weekend car, nothing worse than buying a car and not enjoying it.

Same as the Volvo R's R is all special, and a t5 tuned is never the same.

If you track the M-car frequently enough than it has an advantage over a tuned 2/3/435i...but if you mostly cruise around the street an M-sport package 2/3/435i with a solid tune would be a much better around the town fun car. It would make a lot more torque earlier and hold the torque to a higher rpm typically which is what you want for around the town leisure. 2-3krpm, full boost on a tuned car making between 400-500lb/feet would destroy the N/A v8 M3 or stock M4 and sound better with a solid after market exhaust. If you track the car then it's best to go for the M-car. The reality is a large portion of M-car owners hardly see the track. I don't think an M-car is walmart vs athlete performance difference either. An average "wal-mart" worker who has never worked out a day in there lives would be at least 2-3 times slower in all aspects. An M-car is not 2-3 times faster around a track/straight line than an 35i. You are acting as if the straight 6 from a 35i is like a camry motor compared to a f1 motor lol. Not saying M-cars are not worth it, just that they aren't worth it for most people who just floor it around town between stop lights and on the highway. Occasionally a back road. For enthusiasts who track and push their cars hard, the differences are more clear. I'd say a better comparison is a professional college athlete vs an NBA player. In conclusion, if you are a proper enthusiast who rips through the back roads like you stole your M3 and tracks it frequently then go for the M-car.

very interesting video, I say this as an M3 owner.

Oh you know the non M fan boys are going to eat you alive. They did when I mentioned the reason why people buy 335's is because they can't afford M3's. Boy the backlash was strong but all in good fun.
