I learned all this on 3 on a tree trying to go uphill

Rev matching on my bike is super easy but it is really difficult for me to do it in my car. Then again, I spent most of my time riding my bike.

Memorizing RPM vs speed in each gear is useful. It's kind of your "car times tables".

Wow this is the video I’m looking for learning rev matching in a step by step in less than 30 second! Thank you so much!!

The perks of being 80's kid, automatic was still rare.

I’ve heard different versions of when to blip the throttle so can anyone tell me which is the correct way? Some say you blip it right after clutch in but before putting into gear; some say you blip as you shift; and finally there’s people who do it as you’re about to let go of the clutch. I understand that if you do it quickly enough it would look like they all happen at the same time but as a beginner I still wanna figure out a reasonable order to get comfortable with down the road. Thanks in advance!

If you blip the throttle with the clutch pedal depressed all the rotating assembly of the transmission won't get any inertia thus the syncronizers will have to absorb it. Instead it is better to use double clutching: press clutch, put neutral, release clutch, blip throttle, press clutch put the desired gear.

Smoothest downshifts you will ever see!

Depends if you want to overtake a vehicle rev matching should always be done, I hold the clutch at the biting point when I want the lower gear to slow down works the same way

Ok. I only learned recently that I should be downshifting and rev matching. I had a stick in HS and it didn't have a tachometer so I learned to shift by listening and watching my MPH. Then i would come to reds and stop signs in neutral and use my brakes to stop. Bc I am coming to a complete stop so why downshift when everything is coming to zero? If the light turned green before I stopped, for example, I would chose a gear based on my MPH. Which should match my transmission speed, no?

The third way is the only way I thought you could do it.

Quick question do you need to slowly let off the clutch or just do what he did in the video and let off immediately. Just got a 2011 Audi s5 as my first manual, and sometime I get some jerky downshifts

Is there any reason why you don't let off the clutch in neutral before blipping the throttle? I always do clutch in -> shift to neutral -> clutch out -> throttle blip -> clutch in -> shift to lower gear -> clutch out
