Six months ago, I plunged into the world of home espresso with the Sage/Breville Barista Express. The hype was real, but did it live up to the expectations? Love this machine! Worked for 9 years and suddenly I lost all the pressure and it required service - contacted the Company and they said that for 250 they would repair or replace the machine. Well they made good on the offer and replaced the same exact model! I've had multiple espresso machines ( all from Italy) but nothing compares to the taste of the espresso that this machine made. It is on the noisy side but the quality and taste is well worth the sacrifice of a bit of noise!

Got one that was basically brand new on Amazon for $420. We like it, especially how everything is self contained and organized, making for less clutter on counter. Biggest peeve with it is the amount of purge water it flushes between shots & steaming. The drip tray fills quicker than I’d like and the water reservoir empties faster than I’d like because of it. Also, the machine doesn’t know when the water reservoir is low, and it will still start a shot that it can’t finish. Overall, still happy with it in 2024, just might have been worth it for the dual boiler version for those reasons.

Can you make a regular cup of black coffee with it?

Cool, thanks a lot! I drink latte machiato all the time and never espresso, my family would drink max 3 cups of coffee a day. And its fine for me to wait until coffee is done and then warm up the milk. Do you think I should still consider dual boiler. As I understood it would consume doubled energy and I would not use much water out of two boilers. My budget is up to 2k euro.

Thanks for the video! I have the same machine. I am not really happy with the tamper because the radius is too small. This is why the tamping result is not the best if you use this tamper. How much ml of extraction do you use here for a single espresso?
