Great video. 👍 Dad, those companies should hire you to write the manuals for their machines.

Breville is one of the very few companies who knows what Customer Service really means and any appliance I may purchase, if Breville makes one, that's the one I'll buy.

That is an excellent coffee maker! This was one of the ones I was looking into when shopping around for one but I went for a super automatic instead because all I wanted was to have the coffee served to me without much fuss on my part. I am far from being a coffee expert, but from what i read, espresso can taste sour due it being under extracted, and very bitter due to it being over extracted. That bottomless porta filter you got can be very useful to determine if the coffee is being extracted correctly. If there is a lot of channeling, then the coffee has to be placed more evenly in the porta filter. Also, to know you're not over heating the milk while frothing, place your hand underneath the frothing pitcher. When it's almost too hot to touch, the milk is hot enough.

Thanks for the very realistic tutorial for the machine. You explained a lot of questions that I had. Have a great day.

One thing about these machines is that you should not be storing the beans in the hopper. It’s much better to measure the amount of beans with a small scale first (between 17 and 19 g) add that amount in the hopper, and run the grinder until all the grounds have gone through into your basket. Not only will this keep the coffee fresher but you will have the exact amount of grinds in the basket each and every time and you won’t have to use the razor tool the trim the puck (trimming just wastes espresso).

I so appreciate this video. Clear. Friendly. Informative. And then we got to milk …. !!! There is a HUGE difference between ‘frothing’ and creaming milk. Creaming is about keeping the milk at its expansion temperature. For flat whites or cortados or latte that is crucial. But first try and find a coffee shop who know how to do this. When you have tasted the difference you will know how to do it.

Bought this on sale on Amazon over a month ago. Just unboxed and cleaned everything today. Instructions say to run the entire amount in the water container through the machine before first use. The machine heats up, makes a lot of noise, but the pressure gauge doesn’t budge and water doesn’t come out. Really annoying to not work out of the box. Watching this to make sure I’m doing it right. I’ve had a small manual espresso machine for years that I’ve used without problems.

Is there a reason you don’t use the dosing funnel that comes with the machine?

Also, tamp pressure is not as important as you think. Consistent tamp is important, but hulk tamps, mean you probably should grind finer. Anyway, just tips from being a Breville espresso user for the past 18 years.

The pink tool is not for the filter baskets but rather to clear the steam nozzle. The opposite side of the pin tool has a conceal pin that will let you open up the pressurize basket hole for the dual walled basket hole

Now that you had it for a little while, how are you liking it? I have a special interest because I just ordered the Breville Barista Pro and some accessories including a bottomless portafilter and calibrated tamper. I got rid of the superautomatic because I did not like the way the espresso tasted and the frothing was lackluster. The espresso usually tasted sour, which I am trying to avoid. P.S. Part of the reason why I purchased it was watching your video.
