I have a question. Are current sources real things, or just imaginary object made to teach students circuit analysis?

Are there restrictions for using this method like if theres two current sources then this method can be applied guaranteed, but if its only one current source.. its not applicable? I tried doing this when there was only ONE current source and my answers were off.

Can the current source for v1 be -10+5? which comes out to be -5
