Deep Breathing - A Fundamental Part of Stress Reduction

Показать описание
Breathing techniques can help us relax and reduce stress and anxiety. Simply slowing our breathing rate can reduce arousal in our autonomic nervous system. Elissa Epel, Ph.D., psychiatry professor at UC San Francisco, demonstrates a simple three-part breathing technique that can help with stress and sleep. Try this four times in a row each day. It can be done upon waking, during a break, or before bed (or during insomnia!).

As a Taoist Monk of 50 plus years...my Xi...Tai Chi Chuan instructor taught us a technique called Turtle Breathing. Inhale for 10 seconds...exhale for 10 seconds. That would be 1 cycle. Roughly 3 breathes per minute. As I recall...all of us almost passed out the first time we tried. But...with a devotional attitude...over a period of time...we were all able to master that technique. Now...it's a natural part of my continued daily meditation. Breathing in the aforementioned manner...is really beneficial. 🙏📿🙏📿🙏📿🙏📿🙏📿🙏

Thanks for the breathing techniques. The sirens just made it a little funny. Breathing and laughing. The best medicine.

The sirens sounded when an Internet user held his breath too long.
She said 6 seconds, not 6 minutes !

I have been breathing deeply as a part of my meditation for a couple of years. I still am triggered by guides who ask the physically impossible - breath into the belly. I was born with lungs that end at my diaphragm. I know the guides who insist on this language refer to the movement that many people experience in the abdominal area. Not all people do. Not all people can get past the anatomically impossible request. I'll breathe deeply now, filling my lungs as completely as I am able, to lower my stress.

Excellent. I guess my lung capacity is a bit greater, because I was holding for a little longer than your count.
