The very first comment that should come out of his mouth is buy used. You will always get higher end/better sounding gear for your money buying used.

I like your point of view here and I can see how it is logical and buying in the same price bracket usually works out well for a terrific system synergy.

In the middle of building my bedroom system.
Arcam SA10, includes ESS DAC, $800
Martin Logan dynamo 400, $399
Will be buying Paradigm 200B bookshelves, $1k a pair.... Made in Canada
That's where it ends for me for a good long while.

Were you referring only to two-channel systems as far as 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 budget or in general? I've been upgrading as funds allow and have everything I need (can afford?) right now, but eventually would like to upgrade my main speakers from bookshelf to floor-stand and get better surrounds, currently cheap satellites. I have a 7.2.4 system in a relatively small bedroom. My most recent purchases were to replace a broken turntable with a Rega P2 w/an AT-VM540ML cartridge - and added an amp - Tonewinner AD-8300 (to use my AVR, a Denon X4700, into a pseudo pre-pro). Currently I have, in addition to the aforementioned, a pair of RP-6000Miis, an RP504Cii, four RP-500SAs, 4 Polk RM10 satellites and 10" 60W sub, and a Klipsch 12", 300W sub (stacked on top of each other due to space considerations).

Got a question for you @Audio Arkitekts: I have a sound bar that doubles as a mic, but the green connector piece is totally a bust in keeping it functional, so I'm wondering how do I "repair/replace the green audio jack, with no skills or tools of my own...? (note: My father used to work custodial on BYU campus, & I have an older brother in Logan, UT who is learning to be a great electrician, although I live in Mid rural UT...) any pointers for me...?

If you haven't heard a 100k system you can't really judge it now can you. I have been trading Hi Fi long enough to know above certain thresholds hi fi gets to another level.
