Dr Gundy has DHA pegged intake at 1000mg and I agree this is Optimal so I take 4 Caps with Now Ultra EPA DHA. Dr Gundy thank you for describing your testing methods and this accentuates the importance for adequate amounts of DHA for a good health profile, and for recommending molecularly Distilled Fish Oil, works for me and I have been taking it for 10 years in my regimen now, so glad I invested the money!

I'm Vegetarian. For 20 years I've cut out the middle man/fish and had the omega 3 oil in capsule direct from the algea with the epa and dha. However after 20 years of all these benefits I now find they make me really tired. So I now don't take them daily. And when I do have them I have them in the evening before bed. My kids have been having them for a decade too and at least one of them is a genius..!.

A couple times a week, I eat a can of cod liver, which is typically packed in its own oil. Delicious way to get a healthy fish oil.

Yass! I was going to mention Carlson’s lemon flavour cod liver oil. Only two lil’ teaspoons a day gives you the 1k DHA, on top of the other benefits... and indeed, you can mix it in a vinaigrette and nobody can tell!

🤔 🤗 🍋 🧠

Dr. Gundry,

When discussing DHA, please give consideration to raising awareness of the fact that those of us with the ApoE4 gene (30% of us) require “phospholipid DHA” to cross the blood brain barrier. This seems to be especially true for those of us who have 2 copies of the gene.

If this truth were more widely known, the demand for “phospholipid DHA” would increase and thus provide incentives for supplements providers to meet the need.

I am currently taking:

(1) krill oil: 1 soft gel: 20mg of DHA + 30g phospholipids.

The amount of actual “phospholipid DHA” in the product is unknown owing to this unclear labeling.

(2) Nordic Naturals OMEGA-3 Phospholipids: 2 soft gels: 200mg of DHA

Again, the label does not explicitly claim that all of that DHA is “phospholipid DHA”, so there is uncertainty how much we are getting. I even called the manufacturer to ask, but they could not tell me.

My understanding is that “phospholipid DHA” is found mostly in shellfish but I have no idea (1) how much we ApoE4s need vs (2) how much we get from each type of shellfish.

Thanks for your consideration.

Deep gratitude for all that you have done to help so many.

Does anyone know if he’s talking about the Kirkland green label Wild Alaskan fish oil? I don’t see a blue label, only green and yellow. Not sure which one he’s referencing. Thanks
