Isometric squats helped my knee pain last year - just wanted to share what I did.

It's basically just a weighted deep squat hold. If regular deep squat positions are too easy for you, this can help build some extra strength and mobility! After you adapt to it, you can train very often too. Even if you have no pain or injury, this can be a helpful exercise.

While isometrics are used a lot in rehab and I technically understand the theory of how they're supposed to strengthen the tendons etc, it's a little bit out of my wheelhouse so I just want to say that it worked for me and leave it as that. I have found longer holds to be better for this purpose than say, very short 3 second holds, though.

There are some injuries that this might excaberate, actually, so if it hurts, consider avoiding or adjusting. Consult your physical therapist etc.

Just wanted to share. Have a wonderful day!

PT here! I am constantly using isometrics in early stages of rehab and for maintenance. They're not the end-all-be-all, but I love that you are highlighting that they can be effective and useful, even for people as strong and mobile as yourself

I mention this on all isometric videos because I feel like they're easy to misunderstand. I 100% think we should do dynamic movements too. Isometrics aren't the secret ingredient for everything, even though I like them. However, I think it's a good tool people can use as an option for accessibility, variation, etc.

Patellar Tracking Disorder here - dislocated my kneecap 3 times in 18 months. When it's hurting, I get instant relief from bicycling, and standing on the bad knee on a bosu ball. Just shows that bodies are weird and the thing one would never think of are often not only possible, but therapeutic! My hypothesis; the bosu ball forces my stabilizers to engage. That and lots of PT got it under control.

Love your videos! Informative, to the point, progressions, and always friendly. Thanks! 💗

If anyone here is also suffering from knee pain that you can’t seem to get to go away try stretching and exercising your hips/hip flexors and your ankles. Knee pain is often caused by misalignment due to flat feet, excessively arched feet, and poor interior/posterior hip flexibility.

I thought I had knee pain all my life, but growing up and listening to my body make me realize I had issues with my tendon due to overuse and needing to stretch. Recently I actually had knee pain so I will need to try this.

Fixed my knee pain with regular deep squating. I used barbell back squats and funny enough more weight felt better. Amazing results on my end!

I have tendonitis in wrists, and wall pushups saved me a lot of sleepless nights. Just 10 a day, first 3 days was torture, but after was 2 years without supports. Trial and error is the best with chronic pain.

I dislocated my patella 6 or 7 years ago and was bedbound until about 6 months ago. When I started doing PT after getting up and out of bed finally my knee was still weak and felt like it could dislocate again at any moment. Weekly PT has made a huge difference in my knee stability since then. It's so nice to see progress.

My knee pain was related to weak hips. Learning to use your hips as a hinge helped me so much.

Knee pain because of overuse of quads here. Went back to doing very low step ups on a thick book instead of lunges or squats. Concentrated on activating glutes instead of using quads, vertical shins instead of knees over toes, foot tripod awareness. After 3 days the pain was gone.

Been watching a lot of kneesovertoes guy and noticed your lower squats were more knees over toes. I've also seen some recent videos about how 30+ sec isometrics are good for tendons, they give time for muscles to transfer work to the tendon safely which stimulates blood flow for healing and growth. Just a few thoughts, love your videos!

Squats with a kettle bell over time really helped with my knee injury. Slowly building reps over time. Other exercises only hurt.
