Artists have developed and gotten used to different types of palettes over the ages. Here I talk about the most used palettes and specifically my palette.

Follow me:

Witness my whole process of drawing the figure, from the construct stage to the final layers of rendering. You will hear my every thought and see every mark of charcoal on the paper.

I made my own with an ergonomic cutout for my belly and arm. That way it's super comfy to hold.

Saludos desde Puerto Rico. Mi admiración y respeto a tí César, he seguido tus vídeos, me divierto e inspiran mucho. Eres tremendo maestro. Abrazo fuerte hermano.

Nice vlog!!
You're right about the hand palette keeping your hand on mouvement. I use a rectangular one without thumb hole so i keep it on a table and always find my other hand left on my pocket.

Really like the vertical palette set up. Never thought of the light angle. Will have to give it a try. Good stuff.

More great advice from the master. Now let me rap this comment up..Sometimes when you're painting creativity can stop with a screech, first gotta get those colors right and keep the palette within reach!

Cesar, I love your paintings and your style. Could you make more videos about the technique you use to make a drawing and a painting? Thanks bro. Peace.

Thanks for this video.. I wanted to ask how do you clean a palette like this? I use glass because my wooden palettes were just ruined because I didn't know how to clean them.

Just started using a wooden palette, not sure how to go about cleaning it. I'm used to a clear palette where I could just scrape old paint off. Doing the same with the wood palette leaves color behind, what do you do if there is a lot of an undesirable color on your wooden palette and will using different mediums affect future paint you put on the palette? Just scrape it off as best you can and get on with next painting?

I find holding my palette very uncomfortable. The regular one somehow feels better on my right hand - which I need to paint. The left hand…I guess my thumb isn’t as forgiving?

Idk. All I know is, flipping it over and holding it so the majority of the palette is beyond my knuckles, supported by curved fingers, is more comfortable for me.
