Wow Cesar, very well stated. I feel the same way, although I attended a more traditional art school that taught the alla prima style. After college, I taught myself tighter realism/photorealism. And I have been wanting to keep the old masters influence in my work while allowing it to be modern subjects. I really enjoyed your Why!

Hey, Cesar! Painting and making music is very much the same thing. The musical artists that are able to really express themself have a few very important things in common:
Most of them have a strong "call" or passion for what they are doing.
They are always open to learning more, but at the same time carefull not to loose their own unique way of doing things.
They are very aware that technique is important, but too much focus on the technical side can undermine what (in my opinion) is the most important thing: to be truthfull, convincing and real about what they are doing.
(e.g. Beatles, Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Robert Plant, Iron Maiden, Prince and David Bowie are all great artist, because they create/created more than they steal/stole, and they have an obsession about being truthfull to their own unique expression.)

The thing I like about you, Cesar, is that you are always seeking a deeper understanding philosophically speaking. I wonder how you would express something like "free will" or "consciousness".
Bruce Lee said in an inteview: "To honestly express yourself is the hardest thing to do". I think thats the main goal for all serious and dedicated artists out there.

Im a rookie when it comes to painting, and by watching guys like Andrew Tischler and you, I really get inspired and motivated to do what I can to become as good as I can. Thanks alot.
