Love your trim! Thanks for sharing love how you left the sole intact!!! If it doesn't need to go leave it alone! Also your 45s perfect job in my opinion! You have lucky customers!

Watched a gazillion barefoot trimming videos. Finally a version that I can fully get behind. Great work!!

I like how gentle you are with putting the foot down. I noticed one person throwing a small towel on top of the stand to prevent slippage. It seemed to work really well! Have a nice day Sir!

I have been doing this on our horses for 1.5 years now and it sure works. And its easy on us old men! Thank you for this great procedure.

Nice barefoot trim, the roll is proper. I have spent some time with both sides of the hoofcare industry both barefooters and farriers and learned alot by observing/learning the differences of both. One thing I notice when farriers barefoot trim is that they often rasp the lump that forms on toe callous/pillars area flat where as barefooters do not. The simple explanation I think is farriers are taught to remove this lump to alleviate pressure for shoeing and barefooters are taught to treat the toe callous like gold, as it is an primary load bearing surface calloused over time on a barefoot horse. Removal will often make the horse sensitive or dead lame. The approach to the heels and quarters are different too but that's a whole other post. Just some thoughts out aloud here. Cheers for the video.

I was proud of how nicely I trimmed my horse today. Then I watched this...

Good job. It's so hard to find a good barefoot trimmer. Farriers always cut off all the sole, the frog, and file the whole outside hoof taking away protection to keep the hoof from getting dry & brittle. Then the horse is sore and tender. If you say anything, you get your head bit off.

Thanks. Looks like a good way to go for hoof strength.

Thanks for this video. Seems like the more I try doing this, the more I read and watch, the less it seems I know.

did you know th ebulbs should be sit level not crushed inward and dipped down. Only does this however when then heels are brought more upright rather than sloping under and not sheered off to make them fit a neat finish.

We just pulled my mares shoes which also had a wedge in place. Heels have rolled under, crushed on rt front. She grows toe and is low heel naturally. But my new farrier believes she can be happy barefoot if trimmed, rasped, kept cleaned up and checked more like every 2 weeks with me learning to do it in between. She (my farrier) does the barefoot trim like yours. What's happening right now is at the old nail holes, and with our wet Florida summer, the hooves are starting to break apart at the old nail holes. What can I do during this time of year and during this transition to barefoot?

So on the frog you just make sure it isn't overlapped but leave as much in the middle and let it shed off naturally ?

I would finish up by rolling the edges (Mustang roll). That will give the hoof even more strength.

What’s the best way to strengthen your grip when using the hoof clippers?
