Unsponsored review on barefoot shoes!

I know there are different brands, but I tried to use the two different "types."

One scene I had to cut: These can be extra jarring if you walk a lot on concrete (sidewalks etc). Some of them come with an extra insole to help cushion this.

*Unsponsored meaning I took zero money from these companies. I bought these shoes myself specifically for this review. To my knowledge, the companies don't even know I exist.

I usually have a long, long description that pushes the character limits, but I'll try a shorter one this time!

Someone asked me to clarify my conclusion on "which is better and are they worth it?"

That's totally fair and I'll paste my response below!

I made it more subtle because the answer is that it "depends on the person." I would get the sneaker-looking ones if you want the barefoot feel without really looking that way. I'd get the shoe glove ones if you like the idea of shoe gloves and the fashion statement that comes with it. As for the second part, I think they're worth trying at least once, but there are DEFINITELY going to be some people who dislike them and others who love them. We usually don't stick with shoes forever, so my opinion is that trying them once can really let the individual know if these work for them. Otherwise, there's nothing in a review that can really replace that. Hope that makes sense!

The downside of these Reels and Shorts is that sometimes I'd like to elaborate more - sorry for any confusion!

Once, when I was young, my doctor looked at my feet with distaste and remarked that the toes were all spread out, like “something you’d see in National Geographic.” I was flabbergasted. Wasn’t that the ideal, to have competent toes and feet? ( I didn’t listen to him. When you’re right, you’re right.)

Im really glad you mention that the claims made by these companies are controversial and not completely proven to provide the benefits they list. Every product you review you’ve always been super transparent about it and i wish more people on the internet were like that.

Got surgery for my plantar fasciitis. The pain didn't go away. Apparently, it was my footware. I got a pair of barefoot shoes and the pain went away except for the sore feeling while i run since the muscles are forced to work and the foot moves, but the more i do it the more my feet adjust.

I've been running in vibrams for nearly a decade now, and they feel so much better than regular shoes. Your calves will need time to adjust to the extra strain, but it's so much nicer on the knees and feet.

I saw a commercial where the xero shoe guy basically said that traditional shoes resulted in his father's death. Made me even more skeptical.

One zero drop shoe brand that I love is Altra! All the shoes they make are zero drop and have some more cushioning if you want that feel. They have a super wide toe box as well, which is super nice for wide footed people or people that have cramped up toes.

I got minimalist shoes and they helped my foot pain and helped my flat foot. I actually have a small arch to my foot now. I know they aren’t for everyone but the wide row box helped with my extra wide feet. I can’t go back to normal shoes without my feet being in pain right away.

I got myself a pair of minimalist shoes and I'll say they are the most comfy shoes I have ever worn. I got out the car at the store the other day and actually thought I had forgot to put on shoes for a second 😂

I used to wear a pair of those toe shoes almost daily for like three years before they broke honestly, my favorite shoes I’ve ever worn. I really wish some of the shoe stores here in town would sell them again.

I wore minimalist shoes a few times while running, and while I did like how they felt, they didn't offer much protection to larger objects. I ended up hurting my foot by stepping on a acorn and I guess had distorted my foot in a weird way. I legitimately had to stop running for a couple of weeks because of the pain. So please watch out for large rocks and acorns while using them! I use thicker sole shoes now because I prefer the peace of mind of protection from those things.
