A year and a half ago, I quit my job with no backup plan and up the this point it has actually worked. It has not only worked, but I have been able to do a lot of things and am in a better spot financially than I was before quitting my job. This is my 200th video and in celebration of video number 200, I want to share 12 lessons I've learned since quitting my job with no backup plan.

1. If You Want Something In Life, You Have To Take It

In life nothing will ever be given to you, but if you want something, you have to take the initiative to take action and take it.

2. Whether You Think You Can or Can't, You’re Right

My dream was to make a living off of YouTube; however, the odds were highly stacked against me. Despite the odds, a year and a half later, I am making a comfortable living off the platform. If you want something in life, you have to first believe in yourself and then take action.

3. Luck Is When Preparation Meets Opportunity

When it comes to success, we often think some people are lucky while others aren't. Luck is when preparation meets opportunity and in order to have luck in life, you must prepare for it so when an opportunity comes, you're ready to seize it.

4. Sh*t Takes Time

If you want to achieve something in life, it is going to take time. You have to be patient and consistent over a long period of time until you see results.

5. Trust Is The World’s Most Valuable Commodity

When you boil it down, the product that everyone is selling is trust. The more trustworthy you are, the better off you will be in this world.

6. Operating With Integrity Is The Only Sustainable Long Term Plan

Since trust is the world's most valuable commodity, it is important to always operate with a high level of integrity because that is the only way to sustain something over a long period of time.

7. You Always Have A Boss

When I quit my job, I thought that I was free and I did not have a boss; however, I eventually realized that no matter what you do, you will always have a boss.

8. You Can Be Wrong 51% Of The Time And Still Be Successful

The way YouTube works is that you create a bunch of content and most videos will perform average or below average. A very small percentage, however, will reach a much larger audience and consist of the majority of your views. Even if you are wrong more than half the time, it does matter because these larger videos will make up for it.

9. Success Is Going From Failure To Failure Without Losing Your Enthusiasm

In order to be successful, you must be willing to fail over and over again. Eventually, however, if you keep pushing through the failures, you will see success.

10. Success Isn’t Owned, It’s Rented, And Rent Is Due Everyday

Success isn't permanent, but it is something that you are constantly working on. In order to be successful, you can't act as if you own it, but you have to keep at it every day.

11. It’s Okay To Not Have It All Figured Out

A year and a half after quitting my job there is that scary thought in the back of my mind of, "What's next?" The more I pursue my own path, the less worried I am about the future because it's okay to not have it all figured out. As long as you give it your best in the present, your future will probably turn out okay.

12. Hater Gonna Hate…Let Them Give You Strength

When you pursue some in life that you want, there are going to be some people that try to put you down. It is important to not listen to these people and instead let them give you the strength to keep going.

If I quit my job right now, I would be a homeless within two weeks. I am living paycheck to paycheck

You did have a plan. You planned to spend your time on YouTube and you did have some idea that you could make it because you had been doing it. At the age of 40 and 42 my husband and I started our own business. He had worked in the corporate world in management and hated every minute of it for 20 years. I was a stay at home mom so his income was our only income. When he lost his job due to the company closing we made the decision to never go back to that again. For 20 years we had lived below our means and saved money. That is want allowed us to start our own business. It does take time. For 2 years we lived below the poverty level and put our savings into the business. We never made a lot of money but we ran that business for 25 years and raised 3 children on it. Our advertising was word of mouth and people loved us. Our business was unique and there was no one like us in the whole country. Another ambition my husband had was to be a writer. In 2009 his first and only book was published ( he died in 2010) and it is still selling on Amazon.

Your success also is not just consistency, although that’s probably a big part, but the fact you have content that is useful and interesting to the viewer. I’m glad you kept it up.

Your best advice is to stop dreaming and take action. It worked for me when I bought my house 🏡. Keep looking until you find what you want and put the work into it. El Augustin is very inspiring for all of you struggling young people out there 💪

3:48 Love your definition of luck Agustin -- when preparation meets opportunity. Too many people play down other's success and say it's due to luck, but they ignore the fact that those other people worked hard to get where they are. Great video as usual!

I am a solo game developer making a living creating my dream video games and in my country, people don't recognize it as a real job. People here believe that you can't make money unless you go out of your house and work a 9 to 5 job in a company. Lol.
