In 2021, I joined The Great Resignation, and quit my job. The year that followed was one of the most fruitful I've ever had creatively, personally, and financially.

This video was so rooted and realistic. As a creative in his early years, I found that in 2020/2021 so many self help YouTubers pushed the narrative to just quit your job without realizing much of their audience aren’t content creators but regular people working normal 9-5s. I really appreciate you mentioning that it took you a long time to get to this decision and that you assessed all of your angles before deciding.

This was inspiring to watch Matthew!

I'm at a crossroads now too, having worked with the same company for 10 years. It's fun, rewarding, a great team and more importantly secure (I have a wife and children to support). But over the last two years I've learned that I need to push my limits more if I want to 'succeed'. By succeed I don't just mean monetary value, I mean free time and flexibility on my own journey. I think I'm ready. Nearly ready. 2022 is the year.

Thanks for this video Matthew, a very good insight into your journey and similar mindset. I wish you well!

I’m 67 now, and I can say that this is an excellent video for young people developing their independent careers. Solid advice here from Matthew. I wish I could have seen this when I was in my 20s. There was no YouTube then, let alone the Internet! And they were much tougher times, especially for creatives, and for women. I’m hoping young people don’t waste the incredible opportunities they have today, and that they can maintain a belief in their own potential to make a difference.

You’re the man, Mathew! It’s such a great story, doesn’t even feel like a 10 minute video.

This is great Matthew, you are probably the only creator on Youtube that makes me pause everything I'm doing when I get a new video notification. Your storytelling has kept improving, your content is inspiring without being dogmatic or pretending to be an expert. You're willing to share your experience, success and failure with us your audience. Being inspired means to me to be empowered by an energy to change behavior, ideas and perspective. You are clearly an inspiration, really happy to see share your journey with us...

This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my YouTube channel 7 months ago about self development. Now I have 696 subs and > 100 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.

This channel also inspired me to upload my recent videos to share my opinions about the main things that truly impacted the way I live. They're a couple of my most vulnerable videos that I've been hesitant to post for many months because of the fear of being misunderstood but I finally decided to overcome that fear so others can learn from my experience so we can all grow together. They're packed with valuable information about the relationship between a job and happiness.

What an inspirational story and so well told. I love how you tell this story in your signature visual style and it doesn’t come across boastful (it could so easily have). Really happy for you and thank you for showing us the potential of what’s possible. Well done, Matthew! 🙌❤️🙌

Being a huge fan of your DYI and desk setups, it's nice to see this style of storytelling and imagery from you. The grind is real when you're a solo designer/creative/artist (whatever you want to label it) and from someone who also navigates that life, just wanted to say I appreciate the time and effort you put into your videos to share your process and/or struggles we sometimes don't have an opportunity to express. Great work man, always delighted to get that new video notification from you.

Such a great video here. The quality of production alone just shows how thoughtful and intentional you are in your decision making, which clearly portrays the value you offer in everything you do. I have no doubt this video resonated with every artist that watched this. Thanks for making this video, and inspiring others to pursue a more meaningful and fulfilling life. Congrats on everything, and looking forward to seeing what you're working on next. Cheers.

Matthew, man this made me cry. I'm so happy for you. Your journey as a creative person inspired me so much. Now that you are entering a new chapter of your own life and creativity, may you continue to find happiness and fulfillment in the path that you've chosen. When I'm feeling down about uni right now, I just rewatch a ton of thefutur and your videos to motivate myself. We are so grateful and happy for you! Ps. looking forward to your book
