Dean should’ve left Stars Hollow for a bigger town for study or work, and got away from the same old people… spread his wings a bit and moved on from Rory. Gotten some life experience & developed some independence.

To everyone saying never bring an ex to a wedding: the idea is having an ex there will bring up unresolved feelings (e.g. in himym, Stella running away with her ex). IMO (been single all my life) what better test is there than to have an ex at the wedding. If you’re so weak as to run away with your ex then good riddance, saved yourself a lifetime of pain.

I had an ex at my wedding and not just any ex, my first true love ex. He wasn't the reason why we got divorced. The groom turned out to be an abusive piece of shit, and that's why we divorced.

Everyone keeps saying Rory chose Jess over Dean, but here’s the thing. She actually didn’t. Dean broke up with her and then she immediately got together with Jess. It’s obvious that Dean loved Rory more than she loved him, but still, just because she had feelings for Jess while with Dean doesn’t mean she no longer felt anything for him. If it’s even possible, I think Rory was in love with both of them at the same time. Then once Jess was out of the picture, her feelings for Dean were solely concentrated. It was irresponsible for him to marry Lindsey when he was still harboring feelings for Rory and what they ultimately did was despicable. I would never try to justify adultery. I’m just simply pointing out that regardless of how messy things got, Rory and Dean never really stopped loving each other, not even when Jess and Lindsey were involved. From A Year in the Life, I’m glad Dean has a happy, successful second marriage and is long over Rory because he deserves that. The two of them were once great together. They just weren’t meant to last. But hey, Dean will be literally all of Rory’s firsts (first kiss, first boyfriend, first love, and first time).
