ADHD in Girls: How to Recognize the Symptoms

To clarify: I am not suggesting that there is a "girl" or a "boy" form of ADHD. Any gender can have the hyperactivity component, and any gender can be primarily inattentive. In this video I talk about what is more common; however, it's important that we learn to recognize both forms in all genders.

CHAPTERS:
00:00 - Intro & Find The ADHDer!
00:46 - Why DOES ADHD go unnoticed in girls?
02:37 - How do we know what to look for?
04:01 - Video Wrap-Up & Outro!

I could remember several years ago I was diagnosed with ADHD. Also suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Not until my mom recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms

The more I read and watch things about ADHD, the more I think I need to see someone about it. Not only do I relate to everything but it explains so much about my life and where it went wrong. I always thought it was 100% my fault, being lazy, irresponsible, bad at time management, easily distracted, difficulty remembering to do things, etc. I'm not saying I have no responsibility but I've never had the tools to help me with my issues. Plus it doesn't help with my depression, anxiety and self-esteem issues to have this negative talk in my mind that I'm a horrible person for not being able to start or complete things.

“Smart kids that need to try harder” *remembers that time my honors math class teacher wrote on my recommendation that I’m a little slow to understand things*

This makes me feel so much better. Ive just recently been diagnosed, and it was so hard to convince others to get the diagnosis. I also have anxiety, so the "adhd comes with friends" part hits home for me.

Hey fellow neurodivergent, Just wanted to share that I was finally diagnosed with ADHD at age 28 four days ago, and while I was waiting for confirmation I’ve used your channel to learn what different ways I could improve my life. Anyways, on the resources my psychiatrist gave me (after my diagnosis) your channel was on it. You’re clearly changing people’s lives in this struggle. Thank you for sharing your journey.

I was scrolling through your youtube and I realised this is the first ever video I watched of yours that made me start thinking that I had ADHD. Despite not being brave enough to talk about it then, this started my journey of looking into ADHD and then last year I finally went to the doctor. I am now recently diagnosed at 17 and I am so grateful. Thank you :)

I can't be the only one who tries so hard to focus in class that I zone out and stop listening to the actual class because i'm TOO focused on paying attention

I was once a boy with inattentive ADHD, but with years of effort and dedication, I've become a grown man with inattentive ADHD. I have a lovely young daughter, and I've seen just about every struggle I had as a kid start to affect her, hopefully I can be more helpful to her since I *sort of* know what she's going through.

My daughter’s former teacher needed this. I had to basically work around her to get her diagnosed. I’m so glad we did. Going undiagnosed can cause long lasting mental and emotional scars for kiddos.

This describes me almost exactly from childhood to now, at 71 years of age. Great student in elementary school, good student after that but extremely distracted, often called a daydreamer by teachers. I can be listening to someone and completely miss what they’re saying unless I make a concerted effort to focus. I overcompensated to succeed when I put my mind to it but fell far short of what I could have done had I been diagnosed and treated. So many regrets and mistakes in my life. I’ve suffered from depression throughout my life. Ironically, I am a retired teacher with a master’s in emotional impairment and have worked with many children with ADHD. I started recognizing it in myself then but never pursued any help for it. I wish I had. Maybe I wouldn’t be living in such mental anguish now.

I'm 21 and just got diagnosed with ADHD... I seriously thought I was alone in feeling like this, but this video proved me otherwise. *Mindblown* Thank you for making this!
