The prickling feeling actually has nothing to do with the muscles, it happens when blood flow is cut off to the nerves and the nerves "fall asleep", when pressure is relieved the nerves get oxygen and glucose again and the nerves become hyper active while restarting and send a lot of pain signals hence the prickly feeling
