Sniper was introduced as an Australian and he was raised and grew up in Australia, but the comics later revealed that his birth parents were from New Zealand.

The sniper has a bow and arrow that still has the crit on headshot, but it removes the whole "scope in and snipe from afar" part

fun fact, you can become an "archer" if you equip the huntsman bow on the sniper class

I probably won't be the first comment saying this, but make sure you also check out the extra videos in lazy's "how it feels to play" series. They are essentially companion videos with a lot of behind the scenes as well as stuff he couldn't fit into the main video and are all a blast to watch, as well as add on nicely to the main video on top.

13:00
Welcome to the loadout screen
4 presets for each of the 9 classes.

Weapon slots on the left, 3 cosmetic item slots on the right, and a "action" item slot that you don't have to worry about.

12:43 They technically could, but that would take way too many shots. That job falls to Pyro, whose flamethrower can spycheck an entire group using very little ammo.

8:46 if you're a good enough sniper, your positioning doesn't matter at all. that being said, knowing where to stand as a sniper is still quite important so being able to stand somewhere and not have to worry about what's going on around you is very helpful

13:13 yes, the razorback prevents taking damage from a single backstab. it's looked down upon as an awareness crutch and several groups of people consider it to be a particularly toxic item to the game since it's usually agreed that spy is the weakest class already so the razorback kind of just adds insult to injury. other options are generally seen as more useful overall

8:31 Sadly, no... Sniper is kind of OP in TF2. Rifle reloads fast as hell, ammo is never a issue 'cause he has a bunch and he can quickscope most classes faster than you can blink, like this 13:59. Even his OWN counters.
So a good Sniper usually dominates almost the entire enemy team.

So that bunny hat is Max from Sam and Max, an old point and click series. The characters were featured in a valve made poker game that gave you the hat in tf2 if you bought it called Poker Night at the Inventory. You can’t get it anymore due to licensing stuff so it’s sort of a status symbol now.

sniper was born in New Zealand, but was raised in Australia since an infant, so really either is valid

I’ll start this off by saying I’m a sniper main with over 200 hours just as him, just like lazy said, he’s a very personal class that thrives when you’re thriving and paying attention.
There’s like a few different ways to shoot and aim as sniper, lazy switched his main style from flick aim (which is inconsistent without muscle memory) to guitar hero aim (which is very consistent as long as you know the maps).
Flick aim is exactly as he was doing, predicting the class movements and flicking your aim to where you think it’ll be and firing. It’s not consistent if you aren’t good at predicting and can leave you with over or under compensating the shot. Advice: this takes lots of practice and game sense, even a 2000 hour sniper isn’t so hot at it. Whenever I see myself doing this, I swap to either scout or soldier to retrain my aim because of their main weapons relying on flicking less.
Guitar hero aim is essentially what he explained, waiting for the opponents to cross you line of sight and shooting when you have a target. Just like in guitar hero, you see the target come or in advance you press the fret before strumming hence the name. It’s very consistent but relies on your game knowledge and sense as well as your teams protection and your positioning. It’s very similar to fishing aim (hiding your dot and flicking to a head when you see it cross your sight line) but slightly different simply because guitar hero aim doesn’t rely on surprise and hiding the crosshair but just simply anticipating the opponents movements. It’s one of the first aim styles lots of snipers switch to but have a hard time with as TF2 is really chaotic, I’m not too good at this myself but a good way to train your aim for this is to play as heavy, demo, and scout as they rely on this aim style a lot as well.
Fishing aim is just a better version of guitar hero aim, hiding your dot in a spot you think the enemy will come from and snapping to a head when it’s in your sight line then firing, especially useful in larger maps with some cover. It’s one of the first styles most snipers start utilizing quickly once they learn about it, my only advice for this one is to play often and take note of where the enemies come from or watch other YouTubers who have good game sense (lazy himself, uncle Dane, and soundsmith come to mind) and take notes of what they talk about during rounds.
Thanks for showcasing my favorite game to so many new people, I’m glad you enjoy playing it despite its many flaws! With love, a sniper main. And sorry it’s super long, like lazy said, there’s a ton of nuance with sniper but it’s also very personal nuance.

potential reaction suggestion: Emesis Blue
some others mentioned it before me in the live chat, and i agree that it would be a super interesting react! kind of a long one, though, seeing as it's pretty much a movie.

New sub gang!! Just binged a few TF2 reaction videos, its nice to see someone actually reacting to content the whole way through rather than just watching it and going "heh" every so often. Love from Dublin 🇮🇪🇮🇪

Edit : also, scout playing minecraft is from last vid, HIFTP Engineer 😎

A spy conga's and when you joined, he back stabbed you? That's bad manners, bro. that goes against the TF2 Gentalmann rules. never kill a taunting player. (unless it'll be funny) Same for killing Friendly Heavies. (except don't kill them and protect them)

Spy is French

Scout is French-American (Spy is Scout's father and he grew up in Boston, but Scout doesn't know Spy is his father)
Soldier is American (From the Midwest)
Demo is Scottish
Engineer is Texan
Heavy is Russian
Medic is German
and Sniper is born in New Zealand and was adopted by a couple of Australian

Depends on more than just game sense/overall aim skill. Lazy's totally on point when saying he played better with a good nights rest. I hit more shots when I'm well rested, hydrated and have had a good meal, regardless of game.

It would be real fun if you reacted to horror movie: emisis blue. It was absolutely amazing and done completely in source. I see quite a few of us asking for it so I hope it’s not getting annoying, but there really is a reason for the madness.

13:00 to answer your question about the razorback, it is a single use item (you can get it back by returning to a resupply cabinet or die) that blocks one backstab from an enemy spy. As Snipers are usually scoped in, they get serious tunnel vision, making them easy targets for spy backstabs. Hope this helped.
