Actually, Don reached out to them because he wanted to re-release this for the 50th anniversary. He said he wanted them because "they understand harmonies." Wow, what a complement. And he wanted it to be different and peppy as he said in the behind-the-scenes video. He said at 75 he doesn't have the voice, can't do as much and asked Darren Rust to pick out good parts. Which Darren is the pro at bringing out the best in people, like he did for Lee Greenwood, etc. The whole production of this, backgrounds, pictures from the "day", etc. great! Memories are tough from '71 when this came out, middle of the horrible riots and protests and anger during the Vietnam War, young people dying every day. Everyone knew someone who was there, my fiance for 14.5 months. It was a terrible time, so this song brings that out. But wow oh wow is this an incredible version! My husband and I both had tears at the end! Stunning ending. That's what Darren Rust wanted he said. Take care.

HOME-FREAKING-RUN!!! This was good, and so much fun!! Chance was rockin' that first solo (great to hear him get the "chance" to shine), Tim was laying down an absolutely sick bass line, Adam was his usual mind-blowing percussion self, Rob and Austin were their typical awesome, the old-timey video clips were a fantastic touch....and THE MAN, Don McLean!! Great reaction to a phenomenal song and video!!

Too good! Excellent version of an iconic anthem and everyone did their best. Music was exceptional and the choral bits showcased HF's great harmony. No wonder it is #1 video in the country after 24 hours. Bravo Everyone on a fitting 50th anniversary homage to Mr. McLean, a great songwriter/singer.

I cant comment through my tears. I grew into adulthood with this song, and it means more to me today than in 1971. It was a rough time to live through, on par with right now I guess. Home Free just does Amazing work, and to work with Don McLean, just Wow !!!!

I knew you were gonna love this one! Home Free is absolutely killing it with every single collaboration they do! They're taking truly ICONIC songs and making them fresh and new! And possibly adding new iconic status to them. I think this was the strongest I've heard Tim come out with his higher register. It didn't seem strained or forced and CHANCE!!! What!? Loved it! Great reaction, Dennis. I was caught off-guard by Chance here. Not because I didn't think he could do the higher parts, but just because I think this is really the first time we've seen it. Fantastic! Great video, just like you said; certainly a favorite.
