As NGC has the label the says cleaned, yet they can 'restore' a coin themselves, what's the difference? Also, what about removing 'crud' from the surface of a coin using an ultrasonic? It's not being touched by anything else, no cleaning agent involved and no wiping, still cleaned?

Good video, topic i haven't seen discussed in such a manner with examples to boot, Well deserved the thumbs up. I would like to know more about PVC damage. There are articles out there of course on the matter.

I think that those who own these coins will be disappointed but at the same time they will learn from their mistakes and we thank you for all this very important information in the purchase of our future coins.

If you're unsure, it's important to ask questions to a seller or to your dealer about the coin. And always do your own research. Not everyone's an expert, but they should know where it came from and some minor details about it's history (especially your dealer).

Why does ANACS not have as good a reputation as NGC and PCGS? They have been around longer. Is it their quality control or lack of professional graders?

Great vid. Not only useful, but very interesting. Would be great to see behind the scenes at NGC. They must have some very experienced experts there and lots of records and cool instruments! 😮 I guess they have to stay one step ahead of the forgers to some extent as records were not what they are now back then.

I sent in a half sovereign that had altered surface but still nice to know if genuine or not 👍

Thanks for this excellent overview of what gets rejected by the grading companies. I would love to hear more about what is done exactly to alter a surface and how to tell. I was collecting Palestine coins (at most scarce dates but none of the rare ones) but would like to hear more about this type of tempering of coins.

Can you start collecting, to do a video on ngc fails. The best morgan I've ever seen, I sent in and got returned as REVERSED CLEANED, I was pissed, put it under a micro, no possible way.

Not just they have raised the prices, but also they have been bought out by Blackrock if I am correct, Jay-Z is an investor in this investment fund. So what’s wrong with that crown? Is it actually a fake coin? 👊🏻

A few of those coins look “shady’ and I think they deserve to be graded and slabbed. 🤷🏻‍♂️
