NCS and NGC Conservation and Grading - Failure and Success in Equal Measures

Its a lottery quite often. National Conservation Service (NCS) are meant to conserve coins but little information is given back to service users on what they did or success. NGC are then given the coins to grade.

This unboxing contains specialist gold, NCS modern and NGC modern and invludes pre-33, modern silver and chinese medals so something for all.

Awesome coins. Congrats on not receiving any details grading for the gold dollars. That shield back sovereign has really nice luster and sharp strike. I agree, its strange that NGC only gave it a 61 grade considering that their grading is influenced by eye appeal. NCS really is a hit or miss. I've seen coins that were down graded after being conserved by NCS. I guess its because the toning or dirt hides blemishes or contact marks.

Those Queen's Beast can be very frustrating, in both the Au and Ag. Great design, but dodgy QA. Your persistence is rewarded though, that's a great slab to have

Thanks Numi for the show and tell, I learn a lot from you! Like the Queens Beast, and still love that Dragon and Phoenix design.

very nice coins and medals! I like the 95 britannia.. The 2003 1/4 had an issue on the left of the temple first row in the field and a bit in the frosting it looked like to me a couple of little dimples. NCS definitely doesn't work with 1/20th unless its rare or its for a collection. I also had the effect of a 'why didn't i see that before i sent it out' on one of my indians.

I would like to see before and after videos of your NCS submissions.

Pretty nice results, especially on the 1/4 oz beast, it must of been hard for the mint to find a dinkless coin, I will keep you posted once I have fully gone over my 2 ounces..1up

Thanks for sharing the grading on these coins. Here's a newbie question - What is a details grading? What does that mean?

As always great video! I root for you each time and wish your outcomes would be better sometimes, but as you said, I think the grads you got overall were fair. A little better luck next time...

Thank you for the video. I really hope they don't go too low if the RM decide to continue offering a fraction gold coin in the Beasts series. 1/4 ounce is a nice size.
