Whats interesting about this camera - if you shoot in 4k and afterwards in Premiere export to 1080p, the quality is way way better, than if you had recorded in 1080p initially

This thing is a legit photo and video camera for client work too IMO. People have been using the a6300 and a6500 for this purpose forever. Plus the Sigma f1.4 lenses are pretty compact and seriously good at an affordable price(compared to full frame).

A7III user here but I would have considered this if it came out last year.

Hey guys hope your having a wonderful day! For the very small percentage that read on I’d just like to say that on behalf of all small channels alike we thank channels like yours for providing information on what gear to get and providing inspiration about creating great shots with the gear you already have! My channel has been up for almost a year now and having less than 30 subs can be a bit discouraging but it’s channels like this one that help support small and big channels and help them persist with YouTube! Keep up the great work!

I thought the lack of IBIS was going to be a bigger problem initially, but I've managed around it with a gimbal and haven't had any issues. The a6400 is awesome for the price-point! Great review👏

To be fair, in the heat test, the Sony is doing more work. The Canon is writing more data, but that doesn't generate a lot of heat. Both cameras are compressing a raw image to a particular bitrate, the lower bitrate requires more compute power to reach as it has more compression to do. That requires a beefier processor and generates more heat, and is one of the reasons many of the Canons have such an unwieldy codec (mjpeg), they're not equipped to do better compression.

For the price of an EOS R you can buy the a6400 sell the kit lens for $100. Buy a sigma 16mm 1.4 and a sigma 30mm 1.4 and maybe a cheap gimbal from zhiyun. With that set up you cannot tell me you can’t make amazing videos.

I have the a6400 and it's never overheated on me. And I live in Florida, shooting in the absolute worst heat for hours continuous.

Sony overheating issues aren’t an issue anymore. Their older ones did for sure, but the a7 iii has been solid in very hot environments. You also should turn on the setting that lets the camera continue to operate when it heats up. It won’t hurt the camera.

I’m close to getting a 6400 myself to replace my G85 but I think I might wait to see what the next Canon M series implements. A Canon M50 with uncropped 4K and 1080 120 all with DPAF and IBIS and take my money
