This week, Sony introduced its newest APS-C camera, the a6400. Of course, Chris and Jordan were on hand to take it for a spin and test out all the new features. Watch to find out what they think of Sony's newest model.

“I just hope they'll make the buttons even smaller and the menu system more complex” lol.

Having watched 3-4 other reviews of the same camera and shots from the same"events", I can definitely say that Chris is a great photographer. All the other "famous" youtubers/reviewers, were at the same spot, at the same time but only Chris observed and photographed like an enthusiast.

I want Chris and Jordan with me every time I walk into Best Buy and B&H narrating everything.

I bet us crabby youtubers would have been more reasonable if they just named it the a5200 :) That plus the fact that we were expecting an a7000 with lasers and shit made the whole release more disappointing than it really was.

You are definitively the best : first ones to mention the huge rolling shutter / wobbling I instantaneously found chocking first footage I saw, talking about the timelapse and making clear no video is created (bummer, the app did it, Sony come on, you nearly got it), emphasizing the bad vlogging setup it represents (why the f*ck don't they just put a fully articulated screen like Panasonic), showing the new menu customization interface (the pictogrammes will be a huge time-saving trick for both new Sony users and older ones), talking about the no recording time limit (which is pretty huge for some people I think) and all Chris' speach about new autofocus is so damn interesting and right ! 😊
Thanks a lot guys, contrary to a lot of other pro Youtubers you don't just "scratch the surface" of the equipment you review and that makes all the difference. Keep the good work, you rock ! 😉

With a price of 1049 Euro for the body it's really closer to the prosumer range than entry level or even above-entry like the d5600.

Main problem are still lenses, though. It's not a good feeling to invest into a system that the producer is not really focusing on or committed to. Sony clearly prioritizes FE. There really is only one player who takes APS-C even serious and that is Fuji.

Great honest and fair review... to many people expected a high level professional camera and I truly think they were unfair and not open minded to who this camera is intended for... definitely not a professional photographer. But most professional photographers egos are way bigger than any camera that could ever be produced. Great video like always guy's, thank you

One thing I love about the A6xxx series is the handling. There's no other mirrorless camera that you can use with one hand so easily. Especially not the Fuji bricks. Such a great body for street photography.

Thanks for nice review as usual :)

I think they glossed over the deep upgrades this camera has received over the 6300 and 6500, like the new processor, which is not only tied to the more automatic, reliable autofocus, but also, the speed of the autofocus, when this camera came out, it had the fastest autofocus of all cameras, not just aps c, also the new chip actually brings ~15% more battery life with the same battery, the better colour science, the overheating was completely fixed! Another thing that this review doesn't mention at all, is that the screen doesn't dim at all now, that this camera has the higher quality, magnesium alloy body compared to the 6300, that the menu system is better now, basically being the same as the A7 iii and quite a lot of small, but for some people very major improvement, I'd just like to say that this review was not so DeeP.

Chris is the first one, I've heard mentioning there must be a6500 replacement on it's way too. Thank you! That's why this is lacking in some areas. Also I don't really get why everyone is moaning about the flip screen going up. You can buy a bracket to go under the camera, so you can have the mic on the side and I actually prefer the screen on top. I find it less distracting when I'm in front of the camera, and it's not as noticeable for the viewer either, I find.

This camera makes me excited for the a6700/a7000. Flip out screen with ibis would be perfect!

See, I think we've been so "wowed" by Sony for so long that a release like this disappoints. We are all holding our breath for that camera that has a true fully articulating screen (off to the side like Panasonic), headphone jack, IBIS, and a better battery. It was probably a good call not to launch this at CES cuz of how lack luster it really is, knowing we want something more!

Slightly off-topic, but I noticed the video recorded with the Sony A9 had blown highlights on faces, whereas the Panasonic GH5 looked much better.

Great job. Thanks for honest thoughts. It is only my opinion, but will love to watch you longer than 13 minutes. Real pleasure.

What do you mean not a good "vlogging" camera? Video IQ looks great, amazing AF. It is small and great for travel. Does someone need to take selfies 90% of the time when making a travel video? If someone needs to speak to the camera could alway have someone else film or use a tripod and a lavalier mic. Also could use the phone connected to the cam to check if the head is not cropped before hitting "record". Only thing I wish there was a way to monitor audio via BT or headphone jack, to check on background noise when interviewing someone. The AF improvement is really an amazing step forward, with direct Eye AF tracking. No more need of a thumb joystick and no more fiddling when taking portraits or event photos if switching from horizontal to vertical framing. It really allows a photographer to capture the decisive moment, to compose without worrying about where the AF points are or pressing the eye AF button. I hope selfie videos in vogue will just look dated and narcissistic very soon

Plot twist: Pentax has the patent for the perfect vlogging camera, and they’re sitting on it until everybody buys into their system.
