The nuns told me at the age of 7 that my mother who was Anglican would not go to heaven. I ran home crying. When I was older and realized what they had done to me a little kid I hated them for it.

The best Hitch slap ever… his videos and books should be required reading at the college level…. Also Gore Vidal, Mailer… Orwell

I remember crying to my only friend as a kid and pleading for her to stop liking fairys bc I was taught that all magic was evil and I couldn't stand the thought of going to heaven without her.

Religion is evil

Spot on. A lot of evil come from religion. Because every religion believe they are the only way to God which is laughable but they all do it

Thank you Christopher Hitchens for saying so eloquently what I've known instinctively my whole life.

... The most evil command in the Christian Bible is to have dominion over all living things.

I love it when clips are not fully shown. Here is the response not shown.

On Atheism, what do you mean by evil?
If atheism is true, then there’s no such thing as evil. Why, because there’s no such thing as good.
In order for something to be not right something has to be right. In order for something to be right, there has to be a standard of right beyond humanity, an unchangeable authoritative moral standard, that’s what we would call God.

So if you’re saying something’s evil, you would have to admit there’s something good. But if there’s something good, that could only exist if God exists. Atheists are stealing from God to argue against him.

The video doesn’t demonstrate a valid argument for atheism.

The conflict of knowing false gods as the creator GOD, and there are many, perpetuates the ignorance and remains. A conflict to this day.

Child mistreatment and cruelty seems a lot more common in religious households.

Religion is from a word that basically means your binding. Everyone is bound to a 'way' of being therefore everyone has a religion. What you are bound to will inform your character and behaviour

Sad thing is that was one of Turek’s better moments.

There seems to be a huge logical inconsistency here. Chris doesn't believe in God or any Supreme objective morality. So that makes morality purely subjective. So then everybody has to discern for themselves what they consider to be good or evil. So what gives him the authority to impose his morality on anyone else? Isn't that for them to decide for themselves? Isn't imposing ones own morality on someone else, one of his complaints about religion? Yet here he's doing that very thing. Thats demonstrates a lack of intellectual integrity.
