It's kind of crazy that people even considering Windows over SteamOS.I mean sure, there's a few competitive games that don't work on SteamOS. But I mean, for competitive games I'd much rather have a desktop experience instead as you are at a serious disadvantage playing against mouse and keyboard players. (I mean even a used 100$ HP Elitedesk + GPU does the job better than a Steam Deck)... To me, the drawbacks of using Windows are just WAAAAY too many to make the device even remotely enjoyable. I just consider those few unplayable games on SteamOS not worth my time. And it saves me from SO much headache that Windows cause. For the games I play-, Windows is just a complete stutter-fest. hitches, and framespikes that just takes you out of the experience. Nope, to me Linux is the future for gaming! (not only SteamOS but the Linux system in general) Not to mention how vastly superior Linux is when it comes to backwards compatibility with legacy games.

LCD user here. I'm staying Windows over SteamOS. Sorry but not sorry. I have windows tweaked to the point where battery life is almost completely identical to steamOS give or take a COUPLE minutes. The sleep wake feature is something that I miss a lot ngl. And I don't run into those "windows being windows issues". Haven't had a blue screen once and everything just works for me. If I want it to feel like a console. I just boot in big picture mode. Once all the games I play on Windows are available on SteamOS then I may consider going back.

I upgraded my SD from 512GB to 1TB. I originally wanted to dual boot, but after receiving a lot of feedback about the hassle, I'm holding back from diving into it. For now, I'm just sticking with the SD OS, which ends up with me playing games to kill time, always keeping in mind that the internet may be spotty or unavailable.

I just like switching my Steam Deck on and starting up games with no drama, fulfilling my laptops demands for Windows updates is a stress, I like a lack of stress so for the Steam Deck I'm sticking with Steam OS.

Sorry not sorry, but I'm staying on Windows 11 for desktops AND laptops.

If I want to use Linux, then I might as well just use it on a handheld PC.
