What is the first thing you do to escape a sinking vehicle? This demonstration shows the right moves to make if your car is sinking underwater. To escape from a sinking car, you need to be sure you know what to do in advance.

SHARE THIS VIDEO WITH EVERYONE YOU KNOW!

Extreme and life-threatening situations give us little or no time to think about how to react.

This video and tips will help you save your life and survive a sinking vehicle underwater.

There are some very important steps to be taken in this unfortunate situation.

QUICK REFERENCE FOR ESCAPING A SINKING VEHICLE
==========
- Unfasten your seatbelt and roll down the window as fast as you can.

- Do not waste your time trying to open the door. (water pressure will prevent this)

- Use a special tool like the AWP 2-in1 Window Breaker or some heavy object with a pointed tip to break the window if you can’t roll it down.

- Push the kids out of the car first and only then leave it yourself. (Best if you can hold onto your kids)

- After some time, you’ll be able to open the door if there’s no way to get out through the window, but this is a last-ditch effort for the doors will not open until the car has filled with water.

- Follow the rising air bubbles to the surface.

You have to remember every second counts as you’ll only have about a minute to do what you should before the car sinks completely underwater.

Memorize the sequence: “unfasten the seat belt, lower the window, climb out of the car”.

If you have kids, only leave the car once you’ve gotten your kids out for there is no going back once you leave the car yourself.

If there’s no way to get out through the window, wait until the car fills completely with water, and then open the door. The rising air bubbles will lead you to the surface.

2-IN-1 EMERGENCY WINDOW BREAKER SEAT BELT CUTTER SURVIVAL KEYCHAIN

Evidence shows that 50% of those we've found underwater, trapped in their vehicles could have escaped if only they could have busted a window.

We found one young man who appeared to have tried the front doors, couldn't open them or bust out the windows, moved to the back of the car, and failed to escape.

Another gentleman we found could not get out of his side windows, popped the back hatch, was crawling over the back seat, and drowned before making it out of his car.

If only these two had a 2-in-1 Emergency Window Breaker, we believe they would be alive today.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
The 2-in-1 rescue tool attaches to your keychain with a detachable clip. In the event of an emergency, pull the tool away from the clip to reveal the blade. If the seatbelt is jammed, cut the belt by hooking the blade over and slicing it across.

If you didn't see our other video, check it out here.
HOW TO ESCAPE FROM YOUR CAR.!!

To break the window, press the black head of the tool against the corner of the window and it will release the spring-loaded spike and shatter the glass. The rescue tool does not work on car windshields or non-tempered glass. It is effective only against tempered glass commonly used inside windows.

This should be taught in every single town and city world wide when first learning how to drive and subsequently following up each year when your driver's licence is renewed.

In my 18 years as a Public Safety Diver, and 21 years as a heavy rescue operator, I can guarantee that if the water is as deep as the car is long ( AND only from front to the rear tires needed. NOT even the total length of vehicle ) the chances of the vehicle turtleing are extremely high. It doesn't take long for it to sink or turtle, so occupants need to act as soon as possible. SIDE WINDOWS are the BEST choices to escape, as studies around the US by rescue groups show that windshields obviously are special glass and don't break easily. The rear windows of cars are not the best choice as during the turtling, the vehicle can actually have enough momentum/ inertia during the turn, and end up hitting bottom, back end first. If you have to go through a back window please do it while the vehicle is either on the surface or you are sure that you have hit I feel the tool AWP sells, and those like it are NEEDED for every vehicle on the road today. They also need to be accessible. Meaning do not put them in the center console of your vehicles, do not put them in the glove box, and do not leave them in an open top cubby in your door. They should be either a fixed to your keys where you can grab them whether you are upside down or sideways, or duct taped underneath your steering column where it can be retrieved within seconds. Please share this video with everyone. I also believe that every new driver should go and purchase a tool, whether or not it be from AWP (who directly uses the profits for their efforts that we all get to enjoy via video) or your local hardware store. Share the knowledge, because like Josh said you could save someone's From Lansing, Michigan. Everyone stay safe and have a great weekend.

I just bought 2 of these for my husband and I. I live near Destin, Fla. There is an extensive network of waterways, marshes, swamp-like land, ponds, lakes, streams and creeks throughout Okaloosa County; including the surrounding counties. It has ALWAYS been one of my top fears to be trapped in my vehicle in water. I thought I understood what to do if I ended up in water but I would be dead wrong (literally).

I cry every time they recover a body on this channel; I can't imagine the absolute fear any of these loved ones must have felt when the cold water started rushing in and panicking second by second because you are disoriented. In some of these situations it seems like they may have had an escape but couldn't get the seatbelt off. I wear a heavy heart for the families of those who have lost their lives due to being in a sinking car. I pray they find closure and are able to find peace from such tragedy.

After watching the first AWP video showing just how difficult it really is to escape a car, we purchased 20 AWP window breakers to give out to family. We showed them the video, to be certain they would take us seriously. You guys are heroes to families of the lost, and life savers, preventing future tragedy. THANK YOU!!! And thank you Josh for revisiting the issue, and demonstrating how to leave a sinking car. Zip ties, great idea yaay! ❣️

I’m terrified of water so this video nearly made my heart explode. I’ve been putting off watching it for that reason but I’m glad I finally did. It’s very important to know this stuff!

Somebody really needs to do one of these escape practice runs with a doll strapped into a car seat in the back. Better yet, two. Because having to get yourself it is one thing. But having to also Unstrap two toddlers/babies out of their car seats quickly? It takes me long enough to take one out of the car when I’m just living day to day life. Ps, you guys are so amazing, the world needs more people like you ❤️

I just bought 6 to hand out to my parents and siblings. Been following you guys for awhile, and its heartbreaking seeing the outcome of failed attempts to get out. I live in New orleans Louisiana and were already under sea level with countless bodies of water surrounding us. It's imperative for people to have these tools and knowledge to help live another day. I love what you guys do. Please dont stop being heroes!

In my 23 years of life I thought I knew how to get out of a sinking car safely, this video made me reevaluate what I know. I'm so glad I clicked on this and I just ordered an AWP window breaker. I'll be passing this on to my family and friends!

Thank you for making these videos. As an ex-EMT I’ve heard some of the misconceptions about escaping a vehicle. This tool saves lives.

I absolutely love these informative videos. Super important. My mom, God rest her beautiful soul, always knew this was a possibility. Every Christmas she would give us a different type of survival tool for the car. A window breaker/seat belt cutter was given a few different times. Before these tools, as a kid, I remember anytime we drove over a bridge she would roll the windows down. After watching your vids I went looking for them, to no avail. I think they must have been left behind w the cars when they were sold. I am now taking on the role of my Mom, repurchasing them for our fam. Thank you for all that you guys selflessly do. The world needs more AWP kinda peeps.

Thank you! I would LOVE if you guys could do some tests and make a video just like this but specifically for steps to take to save children that could be in the car, from car seats rear and front facing, different age groups of children, different scenarios with children such as saving 1 child or baby to saving multiple, and having both a baby in a car seat and a young child who is no longer in a car seat at the same time.

My sister bought me and my 3 teen age daughters a tool from you all but we had no idea how to use it. IN fact it was the reason I started watching AWP . I am so glad I did! I really am thankful you made this video and for all you do!

I've been watching your videos for about 6 months. The more I watch I've learned a great deal from each team member, your humility, goodness and pure love comes from the heart, and it shines through. I want to thank you but also your families, as they are part of the team who sacrifice much, probably more than we'll ever know.
May Almighty God bless and watch over you.
P.S. Wish I could contribute more but please know that you all are in our prayers 🙏.

Thanks Josh for producing this video. You're right about never knowing when or if you'll need a tool like this. So it's best just to buy it. And with the cost being affordable - you need to buy at least two - to give to a significant other. Thanks. I've been wanting to get one since the junk yard video. Now I'll have two.
