Somehow I think the electric viking did not listen to the entire video before making his own lol 😆

I’m not even mad, just disappointed. Do your research before you make assumptions. There was no doll, no helicopter, just a channel that specialises in blowing things up. The valuable parts of the car were taken out (including the battery) and the area was cleaned afterwards. Also, if you actually watch the video by the guys that did the blowing up you would have seen that they are not Tesla haters, one of them owns a Tesla and in a discussion in the comments he even said it was pretty sweet to own it. This is why people make fun of Tesla fanboys. The guy’s car broke down, he tried to get it fixed, was given stupidly expensive repair bill, decided to sell the valuable parts and blow up the remaining shell, so he contacted professionals to blow it up for their YouTube channel WERE THEY EXPLIN EXACTLY WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH THE EXPLOSIVES. Stop hatting and enjoy a Tesla shell getting blown up.

I saw this video. See Brian Andersen's comment as he has it right. Sam, you are missing a LOT of info on this one. May have to dig a little deeper on the next one before making assumptions. It was well done and a very entertaining video!

FYI, Toyota Prius battery packs are well supported in the aftermarket here in USA. There is a company out of Kansas that has nationwide affiliates who will come to the car's location, change out the battery, give a 2 year warranty, in less than an hour (once scheduled), for $1200 (pre Covid). I would not be surprised to find a similar service offered for Teslas.

it was called "Exploding Broken Down Tesla Model S" on the "Beyond the press" YouTube channel
they say
Yes, batteries were removed and we cleaned the area after the explosion! and to be clear I don't have anything against EVs or Tesla, I drive Model S myself and own quite a much TSLA stock. This is was just so stupid project that I thought it's perfect for my channel.
Thanks to everybody that helped in the project!

This was from the guys from Hydraulic Press Channel, this is Beyond the Press. They blow up all kinds of different things, it’s what they do. They did explain everything, battery pack issues, other issues. Coolant leak ruined second pack. Battery pack, motors, other things were removed from car. Lauri had his new model S there. Definitely not an ani-EV stunt. No Elon doll in car or dropped from helicopter. Take a few minutes to watch video before making assumptions.

The guy clearly says that they took out the batteries.

I have a 2013 Model S. In the US at least, that generation had life-time battery warranty. I'm on my 3rd battery and and I had tons of bugs with the car, e.g. 3rd MMC unit, and 5th door handle. I can imagine myself blowing it up if I had to pay for a battery.

Actually non of this is kept from the viewers if you actually watch the video and turn the subtitles on, yes he sold the battery pack. There was nothing wrong with the batteries themselves it was a leak in the pack and some electronics had been damaged from exposure to water. Again, they said in the video that the battery pack and the front "engines" had been removed. You're starting to be seriously disingenuous at this point! Again, the broken part wasn't the battery, it was a faulty piece of electronics that only Tesla provides the parts for!

I think there is way too much attention given to this even, because if you go to the "Beyond the press" YouTube channel, then the first pinned comment explains it very well:

"Yes, batteries were removed and we cleaned the area after the explosion! and to be clear I don't have anything against EVs or Tesla, I drive Model S myself and own quite a much TSLA stock. This is was just so stupid project that I thought it's perfect for my channel."

So this is no different to any other stunt performed by other youtubers

Always stay open minded ! Never fall in love with a particular share. What I disliked very much 18 month ago is that Mr. Musk answered the question about battery replacement cost with 3000 to 7000 US $. Obvious that he talked but interestingly enough no one complaint about.

The inability to swap out a battery will result in a growing mountain of techno junk. So much for "saving the planet". Batteries and proprietary code are major control points. One physical and the other virtual. Profits assured. Not to mention the carbon spike that accelerated retooling and manufacturing with the rollover to EVs. In fairness to Tesla, the first OEMs will experience the first complaints. Tesla is one of them. Oh yes, GM's offering was also a 'first'. Those had to be taken out of play altogether due to failing batteries, no? Battery swapping is not just about range anxiety. How many otherwise working cellphones do you have in your drawer?

Thanks for the head up. Enjoyed it very much, if someone wants to blow up their car then let them. I just don't know why you have a negative attitude to him. He did the right thing I my mind by selling of the motors and batteries, mcu. In the uk Tesla model s 2013 go for around 25k-30k. so selling a single motor for about 7K plus battery pack for 7k or in the uk thay are selling on Ebay for £1500 each module. So splitting up the car for parts is not a bad way to go. Who said EV where reliable. 100k car 8 years is a lot.

$14, 000 - $17, 000 is a BIG cost after only 8 years ... rare you would have that on an ICE vehicles

No one is talking about why a 1 year old car is not receiving updates. Why? 2021 S/X are not compatible with repeater camera, light show, UI refresh, Sentry Mode Live and more. This is very concerning that no one talking about this planned obsolescence. Is this the first sign of them not being supported in the long term or do they just need more time. Communication would be great.
