Helene’s swath of destruction has caused historic rainfall, flooding, power outages and 140-mile-an-hour winds across the Southeast. But it was North Carolina that bore the brunt of it Saturday with vast swaths of cities like Asheville underwater, residents trapped in their homes with no lights or food and few functioning roads for rescue workers to help them.

Helene, Gov. Roy Cooper declared, had become “one of the worst storms in modern history for parts of North Carolina.”

I remember growing up as an American that life used to take on way were meaning then just playing with yourself. If life had more meaning Donald Trump would be embarrassed and even scared to run for president… Most criminals would be. We live in a world of the haves and have-nots and they are at war. The making of money wants to control the spending of money. Killing democracy is how that works. The homeless have already lost their inalienable rights (God) controlled by the norms and mores (social media) owned by the megarich. For hopes sake I can't help but wonder if the children of tomorrow are going to find an alternative to work to stop paying into a system that is broken. For myself I do not own a gun so I don't go outside much anymore. I used to love hiking the Appalachian Trail taking care of my needs for myself. Sad to say, not being your own man is a terrible right to lose. I hope the children of tomorrow can get their inalienable rights back… I will pray for it in my thoughts even though I no longer go to church. Giving money so preachers can buy airplanes spreading the word of capitalism has never been what church meant to me. Today just like so many others… I just have to live with it. One more thing, knowing that all I have to do is touch someone to experience bliss and ecstasy is a conscious miracle living in this world that makes me glad God exists.… God never held back on anything giving back to his children.… Maybe there truly is life after death.
