I find it funny how hard people in Hawaii scour the internet looking to deter people from coming to Hawaii. You're living there for $900/mo, which is way less than half of what it costed me to live in Los Angeles. Hawaii seems like a great place to live, as long as you have a stable income -- just like anywhere else.

I love that everyone here wants to live in hawaii but please keep in mind to learn the history of hawaii first and to please protect the wildlife and everything in hawaii, even using sunblocks from outside of hawaii can hurt coral in the ocean and kill them so please be careful

Great video and info. When I moved to Oahu, my first job was in a Waikiki tourist trap stocking shelves. A nice Chinese lady was kind enough to hire me. Got the job through an employment company, which took a chunk of my first few paychecks. While I was looking, one local shop owner actually told me "We don't hire haoles from the mainland." Be prepared for that and keep trying. I finally got a job at a shipyard, making good money. Then I quickly had to learn pidgin! Real fun kine stuff, dat.

This video was made on Maui a few weeks ago, but the situation is the same on Oahu. Until the thousands of long term local residents who are relying on charity for food can get back to work, no business is likely to be hiring people who just arrived in Hawaii.

What did you go to college for? Not sure why you got a college degree if you think getting a job at McDonald’s is a good option now.

She will be home on the mainland by Christmas.
The economy of Hawaii is almost entirely dependent on tourism. With the pandemic currently getting worse, rather than better, there are tens of thousands of unemployed Hawaii residents right now. The way things operate in Hawaii, you pretty much need to know someone to get a job. Family or friends who can hire you or recommend you to a local company are essential. Until the unemployment rate among native born Hawaiians or people who have lived there for several years comes down, they won’t be hiring any new arrivals.
Many long term Hawaii residents are moving to the mainland already in n search of jobs. This is probably the worst time in history for a new arrival to find any sort of job in Hawaii.
