RECOMMENDED USB DRIVE

Quite an easy thing to do with your motherboard if you need a BIOS update for your new shiny 5000 series Processor.

You will need the following:
The motherboard and something to place it on that is non conductive - the box is fine
A suitable PSU with a 24 pin main connection and a 4/8 pin EPS power connection
A USB memory stick with 32GB or less space and formatted to FAT32

Thank you for the video Mike! I watched it carefully and updated the BIOS of a similar Gigabyte motherboard so that it would accept an AMD 5600G in December 2022. Wish you a lot of success!

For anyone who reads this and has a larger flash drive:

Open disk management in windows through search
Select your thumb drive on the list of drives on the bottom half
right click and delete the volume
right click and select new simple volume
when you format the drive, make the size 2000mb on the first page and fat32 for the file system on the second
assign a drive letter(whatever letter you want, doesn't matter)

This guarantees it will work. The MB will only see the drive as a 2gb flash drive.

tearing my hair out

finally gave up and was about to send it back

If you don't really need a big thing, an A520 MOBO paired with a Ryzen 5XXXG or even until a R5 5600 series will be enough. Remember: MOBO will give you connections, not speed. Thank you very much, Mike & Kath!
