Well said! Managing expectations is a key to finding happiness and contentment in life.

Oh yeah it totally must be that and not capitalism saying you're useless unless you can make loads of money and step on other people

Tell kids that they should strive to be good parents. Good neighbors. Caring stewards of the natural environment.
And that success is not measured by how much stuff you have.

And why are their expectations so high? Social media.

Whatever has occurred in your life absorbed those minutes, those days. They need not claim dominion over these minutes, these hours, these days.

You do have a sanctuary, but it is not one to the past. It is to the ‘you’ you’re becoming. The days will come and go, but each will be anchored with tiny steps. Each one is a testament to future possibilities.

Face forward, not backward. These brand new moments belong to you.

This is like the speech that Tyler Durden gave in Fight Club 24 years ago and he was right

I think its just perspective and social influences. Regardless of capitalism, there always someone who’s going to have more money more friends. But if people feel that strongly about capitalism, what do we do go to communism? i’m just curious.

YOU may be wealthier than ever, but the VAST majority of us are NOWHERE near that. Get a little perspective before something like this. Just because countries are doing better, doesn't mean the PEOPLE are. smh

I was one of those kids whose parents told them everything was perfect and dreamy, yet all I want is for things to be equal for everyone. THAT has nothing to do with my parents making my expectations higher, but the SOCIETY showing it doesn't give two fs about most people. Sure, those expectations sucked, but do you know what sucks even more? Living pay, to pay and then being told, the top 1% still don't have enough. smh

You can find an explanation in classical literature such as War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy.

Speak for yourself, I was told I wouldn't amount to anything, but I've managed to live a very interesting life, free from materialism interests. My expectations were low, so anything minor that I accomplish is a win for me. Be honest, the real issue here is capitalism

Its called social media and inequality. Grocery store worker makes 25-30k a year. A kid with a decent “leg” or “arm” makes $40, 000, 000.00 a year playing with balls. Think for a minute or 5..

Very accurate, but where would Beyonce or any other singer be if they were told "you will never be a famous singer"

it's not because expectations are high, its because family has fallen apart and because we have a death focus politically. abortion, euthanasia, trans they teach people to question everything good

More prosperous than ever?? Maybe for private school white boy mc real estate agent here, but the reality is that in the western world, more people are struggling than any time in the last 30 years.

He must've lived a very privileged life because he is struggling to relate to the normal human experience
