Internship expectations vs reality

This makes me feel thankful about the fact that my first internship was genuinely good and everyone was really nice. But maybe that's just because I was unpaid and that took off some pressure. But I don't mind! I learnt some great stuff!

After 5 years in my 1st company,
I took a jump to TCS.
for a MONTH, I literally did NOT have a cubicle assigned and I was LITERALLY asked to sit in someone else's cubicle whoever was on leave that day or I had to awkwardly stand awkwardly HERE AND THERE, working alongside someone else ...

AWKWARDEST EXPERIENCE

I didn't have the best experience as an intern. So I promised myself I would be good to my interns. I had my own internship program plan, I encouraged them to have a sense of responsibility and made sure they understood the importance of their tasks, I gave workplace and career advice. Guess what, the kids didn't care. All they wanted to do was gossip with each other, stare at their phones and collect their internship allowance (minimum wage) to buy the newest sneakers or phones.

Currently on an internship for the Server Department but it's a paid internship and I spend half the day sitting in a chair just looking at a screen😂.

I faced the same chair issue on my first day...like I was asked to get up 3 times....but later these guys become my best buddies

The chair problem for me is all about the height adjustment... if you missed one day in the office the next day it's like a treasure hunt for your chair...

I am glad that my internship experience was very good. I had my own work station, with a proper computer, printer, intercom. and no I was never asked to bring tea for my supervisor.. and there was loads of research work and reports to write. it was a great working experience. even my supervisor took me out for luncheons.
