Oh my god, thank you! I've been using the new layer on copy feature for so long now, and it's been so time consuming.

3:13 The method of duplication using CMD + J is the hotkey for "Create New Layer Via Copy." Not Duplicate. It works as intended though.

This is powerful. I am a newbie so I have to take all this slow. Thankyou.

Amazing work always Nate! The 2 new ways I've learned to duplicate are duplicating in perspective & manual perspective duplication! Your videos help keep the inspiration fresh throughout the day! I also haven't used the patch tool too much for duplication but it's a great way to manipulate any photos.

Do you have a video that goes into more detail on how to use a layer mask first, then the duplicate or clone tools so you don't mess up the original image?

I got lost in the final task. (scaling the cloned jogger). Apparently, the reference point will not show on default. You need to enable that in edit > preference > tools > tick show reference point. Otherwise, you won't be able to duplicate what he's doing and be scratching your head for some time. also, in windows, you need to press alt (not shift+alt) as the latter would change the aspect ratio of the jogger.

For the second one, GOD I LOVE THE CLONE TOOL! I abuse the living daylight out of it.
One thing I did figure out the other day was, once you've cloned something [if the background does not look right], select the healing tool thing, and go over the areas that stick out like a soar thumb. It should make for a presentable surface. It's not perfect by any means, but it does get the job done somewhat. I even used it on wood-grain, and it sorted that out about 65%.

However, one thing I'd like to add about the heal tool is to ONLY use it if you're working with similar objects (say background with a cloned background, or brick wall with a cloned brick wall, etc). I don't know though. I'm still a beginner, so that's how I'm doing it for now.

Layers! I've been taking your advice and duplicating layers. I actually made a poster and extended the top ceiling of a gazeebo, in that quick and dirty way, and added a gaussian blur and it looks great. The bottom of the poster has an image with already a blur at the bottom, so it fit well. I duplicated and then extended before blurring. I made a few errors first, so those new layers were a real time saver.
