Did Jesus & Paul preach Two Different Gospels?

Many of our hyper-grace friends believe that Jesus and Paul were preaching two different messages to two different peoples. Jesus preached law to the Jews, and Paul preached grace to the Gentiles. But in this message Dennis Pollock shares why this is not so, and that Jesus and Paul are on the same team (But Jesus is the Captain of the team!).

I have met so many professing Christians who say they believe, and love Jesus but I saw no love in their eyes or actions. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 13:2 that you can pretty much be a super christian but if you do not have love you’re nothing. I have met many Christians who live a pious life but is cold with no compassion, no love in their hearts for others. 1 John 4:8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Well Said Dennis! a real Eye opener!!! You can see this unfolding out there in the World in these last days! Grace seems to be abused, Repentance is needed to change their attitude about Grace, I believe Grace is about giving people time to get it right, Repent and change ones life, It doesn't give a person a free ticket to Sin all they want and Practice Sin thinking Grace is going to cover them! one should have the right attitude to practice righteousness by avoiding Evil and wicked works.

The gospel simply means good news, the Bible is full of good news, but not all good news is for you.

AMEN AND AMEN!!!!

someone with belief that Jesus is Lord will always seek to obey Him out of LOVE. do you smack the ones you love? do you disregard their words and ignore them blatantly? certainly not! why then do we profess to love Jesus but truly only love the idea of Him being a pushover? He is a Holy God who calls us to Holiness and i praise Him for His Righteousness!!!

I was really hoping that you would address the two gospels specifically spoken of in the Gospels and Paul’s letters. Jesus begins preaching “repentance for the forgiveness of sins” after John baptized him, but Paul tells people to “believe my gospel”. Jesus tells people to “practice the law and teach others to do the same” and Paul says “circumcision is nothing” “nothing is unclean”, “do not put yourselves under the law (which means to most people don’t practice or even read it)”. I LOVE God the Father and Jesus his son, but I don’t understand how Paul can contradict and even fight people that are trying to learn and obey God’s law. When I read “I will make a new covenant with you … I will write my law on your hearts .. so that you will want to obey me” I never imagined that the fulfillment of that prophecy would be a guy going around preaching against god’s law out of one side of his mouth and then telling people what to do to enter heaven out of the other side, and as I read his letters, he sounds like he’s putting himself in the position to speak for God like Moses, telling people to disregard everything the father has said (which Moses would never do) and to do what he says. It’s so spiritual and flowery I want to believe it, but at the core it appears to be counter to everything God the Father had been trying to get his creation to do. He very much reminds me of someone Jesus said would say “Lord Lord, did we prophesy in your name…” It is hard to carry this issue when I want to know and love God so much, to be a good Christian, and I don’t know a church on earth that addresses these issues, yet.

It's clearly stated that JESUS was teaching through Paul

Doing good works is not a way to get or keep salvation. Rather because Jesus saved me by grace, that I want to be a servant of God by doing good works and living a Godly life (with His help). I do this out of love.

I usually avoid Paul's letters because I'm confused. Somewhere he says that we are "free from the Law" while elsewhere he says that we must uphold the Law. I think this is from Romans.

Ok but at the end of the day, is anyone without sin? So, we’re saved by God’s grace and mercy, like the good thief

Thank you! This was a much better explanation for me, I’ve been struggling with trying to understand if Paul went against Jesus or not, as soo many are beginning to also believe this. This video however, helped me to make more sense of where it seems the contradiction is coming from. I believe people have gotten so “lax” with their Christianity and their claim to have faith, that they’ve used it as a way “do what though wilt” (and we KNOW that is not Godly at all).

The MASTER says:

Revelation 22:14 (RNKJV) Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Luke 10:25-37 (RNKJV) And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

Mark 12:28-34 (KJV) And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment(………)And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God.

Luke 18:18-24 (RNKJV) And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
And Yeshua said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, YHVH.
Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.

Paul:

Ephesians 2:8-9 (GB) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Romans 7:6
But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in the newness of spirit, and not [in] the oldness of the letter.

Titus 3:6-7 (KJV) Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

ME:

Those that have eyes to see and ears to hear. Will perceive the truth and wake up. Believe in the Messiah and those that follow his words and do his works.

You did not touch on the 2 gospels which cause the debate in Acts 15/Gal 2. Jews tried to bring Paul's church back to Moses's Law, & to get them circumcised (these jews were sitting with the 12 Apostles daily) Paul's gospel that he received he took with him on this journey with him back to the 12 Apostles (Gal 2:2) the gospel of Gal 1:11 which was not of man. Paul's gospel was the finished work of the cross 1st Cor. 15 1-4 which is his shed blood for our sins. Paul's preaching was to put the law to rest nailing it to the cross & trust in the finished works of the cross for salvation & not of the works of the law. I don't know anyone who preaches keep living riotest living, & just trust grace through faith. Paul's church mostly was gentiles who never were under the law & yet they received the Holy Spirit Peter remembering his visit to Cornelius in Acts 15: 7-11purifying their heart by faith he said nothing of riotous living. But there is a difference in Paul's gospel of grace than the Jews trusting in their Messiah which was promised to the Jews, but not the gentiles. Your claiming grace thinks your way of riotous living & just trusting grace is very new to my ears. I don't see Grace offering the sinful lifestyle you say? Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? shall we continue in sin that grace abounds? 2: God forbid. I am saved by Grace through Faith & not of myself (works of the law/legalism) it is a gift of God: not of works lest any man should boast. Eph 2:8, 9 10 says we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works.

That's right. The correct way to believe in Jesus is to obey Him.

I try to follow Jesus. Jesus said that we must love our neighbors as we love ourselves and to not judge because we all fall short…Paul didn’t seem to say this at all, his message seemed more legalistic then Christs teachings were.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Paul did not teach lawlessness at all. He warned people not to use their freedom throught Christ as an excuse to sin. Paul message was that Jesus saves and you don't save yourself.

Yes they did. Jesus preached the gospel of the Kingdom as they were under Law. The apostle Paul preached the gospel of Grace, because all changed when Christ died on the cross for our sins to the full satisfaction of a Holy God. God raised Christ from among the dead by His glory and now God reaches down to mankind in Grace. Grace is the totally unmerited favour of God bestowed on the believing sinner. That is all of us, we are all sinners before God. The Law said, Do this and thou shalt live. Grace says - Done, believe and live. Paul could not possibly preach the same gospel as Jesus, because ALL HAD CHANGED. Paul received his gospel from the risen, glorified Jesus, and it is through Paul's preaching to the gentiles, that we are saved. The vast majority of us are gentile sinners. Peter was the apostle to the Jews. Hence there is a different slant in both their epistles. Thank God for Paul and his different gospel of Grace.

Jesus taught straight godly living, not „salvation through faith by grace accompanied by godly living“

100%. Thank you. Paul taught justification by faith. He also taught much about what faith-led obedience looked like.
