I have made this recipe several times. After I mix all the ingredients I usually let a mixture sit overnight in the refrigerator. In addition, I use an Italian bread. Then instead of using shredded mozzarella, I buy fresh mozzarella and cut it into small pieces or I buy deli mozzarella from boars head and have them slice it thin so that it drapes over the bread.

Thank you for your question. A serrated knife works really well when cutting tomatoes. It can slice them without applying too much pressure and damaging the flesh.
