I've spent time in both cities and in my opinion; In LA it's important to look cool. In NY it's important to be cool. And that's it in a nutshell.

NY: unhealthy sociopaths
LA: healthy narcissists

I live in LA and this is pretty spot on. Mexican food is amazing. I spent most of my time just chilling with friends. Life is too short to be stressed out all the time.

anyone who says LA is boring and nothing happens is full of bullshit. try living in a super small town in Alabama you whole life where the most exciting thing that happens is a high school football game and a birthday dinner.

Every time I go to NYC I always get stressed out just by walking in the streets or ordering food you gotta do everything quickly

I live in New York and i've always wondered about LA life. All my friends are like "Theres nothing like west coast livin" All the Youtubers seem to flock there when they "Make it" But im like what better than getting a turkey and cheese sandwich from my bodega at 1am? I guess i'll never know until i visit

I've never been to LA, but you did a great job describing NYC. I am a native New Yorker living in Manhattan and working in Brooklyn. It's all about the grind. Visitors label us as rude, but we aren't rude at all. We are just trying to get from point A to point B at lightning speed. The multi tasking, rat racing, two job having, tiny apartment living, tall building viewing, subway jumping world YORK CITY!   :-)

True, California is so relaxing and so beautiful with the mountains, and also the gorgeous weather, and stunning sunset.

All true. I was born and raised in NYC (Bronx). I've lived in LA since 1990. I came here for grad school and ended up staying here indefinitely. I do miss home, I'm happy to go back to see my family for visits, and check out old haunts, but LA? It's home. Work is here, weather is here. I can't choose between the two, but luckily, thank God, I had the good fortune of being born and raised in one of the best cities in the world, I've been able to live my adult life here in one of the world's other best cities, and I've been able to travel back and forth between the two. It's been amazing. Equally great places in their own unique ways.

As a LA native that visited NYC, I liked the big city a lot more. Being a person that loves huge landscapes and architecture it is amazing. However after just a few days of taking public transportation there, I got the feeling that it could be a depressing place to live. As a person that likes friendly people and community, I prefer LA.

La, home of most celebrities. Also I just love the tall palm trees. It just feels like california truely.

NY born and raised. you have to have THICK skin to live here. unless you're rich and can afford to have an easy job and an apartment in chelsea. but that is like 1% of new yorkers. new yorkers work hard. and we dont take BS.

Omg I've never been to NY but when someone says LA is cheap compared to anything you know NY IS EXPENSIVE AF!

I live in Maryland, been to NYC millions of times, been to LA twice ( just came back from there 2 weeks ago on the 12th of January). It depends on what you like really. Transportation is better in NY just cause the trains go pretty much everywhere and NYC is condensed vs LA that is SO FREAKING spread out and the trains don't cover everything. NY is more fast paced, LA is more laid back. People are much nicer in LA I find. There's a lot to do in both cities, I do like the 3 hours difference when i'm in LA. Cost of living is definitely higher in Manhattan, it varies all throughout LA. Personally I would definitely pick LA over NY cause NY Is just way too fast and people move like machines over there. In LA you can go to the beach, youre surrounded by mountains everywhere, you can go hiking, got to downtown, Venice beach and all that. Its a matter of preference though.

Loved this video! I've lived in both and totally agree with your comparisons! New York makes you tough. It teaches you to be bold, direct, professional, and hard working. LA is where some of my best friends live though, so it will always be home to me :) Great video Maya!

I don't live in LA or NYC, but I think I go with New York City. NYC is for me the definition of a city.

I'm sure some New Yorkers know what a "hell" NY was back in the day (late 60s/early 90s). Is some of that still there? I mean, TImes Square looks like Disneyland, I prefer the old Times Square, based on photo's from now and back in the day.
