How to Edit MULTIPLE OBJECTS in Blender at Once

In today's Blender tutorial, learn how to edit the geometry multiple objects inside of Blender at once, even if they're separate objects!

One of the features contained in Blender 2.82 is the ability to select multiple items in object mode, then edit their geometry in edit mode at the same time.

You can do this by selecting the objects with a shift click in object mode, then tapping the "Tab" key to move over into edit mode. Now you can apply any of the edits that you usually would to a single object to multiple objects, like moving vertices/edges/faces, insetting faces, etc.

Bonus tip - at the top of the page there's a little dropdown you can select that will allow you to set all actions to be based on the individual object origins, rather than your overall selection. This allows you to do things like scaling individual objects at the same time!

Hi everyone! Let me know if you have any questions about this tip in the comments below! :)

Very informative :) By title however I expected it would be something like "how to make components in Blender". Now I know it's even easier. Just hit ALT+D instead of SHFT+D when duplicating objects :D

If I multiply an object 10 times, is it possible to change only one while the other objects are affected the same way? Like if all objects mimic the "master".

I tried to do this to change the dimensions of 8 windows arranged in a circle around the top of a circular tower. I can only adjust their height (Z axis). Trying to adjust their width distorts the positions of the whole bunch. Tried using "individual origins" but to no avail.

I dont get it
I held [Shift] and select an y objects I want.
when I tried [object data properties], there just 's a one object that effect

But shift-click implies that objects are all nicely separated/clickable. If you have a bunch of imported items all on top of each other it seems impossible to select them all and apply global x/y/z changes (even before separating them out to make edits).

Even in 2.93 it's not always working:
a) select multiple vertices from different objects and inserting the coordinates into the pane ► affects only the last selected vertices from one object
b) cut (shortcut k) is not working

I'm looking for a solution... hoping I'd pressed the wrong key and toggled something :/

how can you rotate individual objects?, thank you great video

This doesn't appear to work with an armature and a curve. The context is to align armature points with vertices on a curve

Question. I have an object that I imported into blender with multiple parts and whether I press a (to select all) or use b (to highlight everything), or shift and right click (to select each part), I cannot seem to get any more than one part to go into edit mode. How do I get all the parts into edit mode? I even tried going through the entire list of the names of the objects and selected them all and it still only turned one part into edit mode. I keep getting the exact same results whether it is in object mode or edit mode. I have been able to do it before, but I can't remember how. Please help if you know how.

Is there a way to do this to all faces of one cube? Like if I wanted to extrude all sides equally in some way.
