I have been made aware that this trick will not work if you have Emulate 3 Button mouse active. So if you cant get it to work try turning that off.

Thanks so much! This was driving me mad. I'm surprised a hotkey is needed for this. I love Blender, but it's absolutely insane how unintuitive the UI can be even for basic features like this. You're a life saver!

Thank you, I was just mentally preparing myself for a painful hour of copy+pasting values onto dozens of objects. This saves so much time!

The key is hold down "ALT", thanks a lot, Saving my life, Why Blender don't know that we select all of those objects for adjustment?, it is unreasonable.

Thanks that did the trick, Didn't work for me initially but then i remembered that I have emulate 3 button mouse set to ON. Find it under "preference/input" if you have the same issue.

After making a ton of objects using the same material, I had to make later a new set of them as instances, but with a different material. Now, there are hundreds of tuts on how to change the material for several materials, but none that could allow me to change "data" assigned materials, to "object"... but this video was the solution! Select all instances of one set, hold Alt and change to "object". Now I can assign one material to all objects in one set, and another to the other set.

Sucks that is a hidden trick.. 2 years using blender, and i find out about it just now...

Mine works a bit differently and I don't know why. Have to select my objects, click without pressing alt, type my value, then hold alt and press enter.

Thanks, short and sweet, holding the ALT button while putting in the numbers. So simple!
