That helps explain why my gout and arthritis bother me less now that I’m skipping lunch, fasting one day a week, and eating more sauerkraut. I still get flare ups, but they don’t last as long, and my joints don’t hurt every day like they used to. Turning 60 this year.

In short: when old, fast more, go out more (during the day), sleep more (during the night), avoid injury, irritation, or infections, when eating, eat foods rich in fiber and low in carbs.

Thomas, you ventured into a new territory and I am impressed that you have a spot on thinking about molecular mechanisms of ageing. I am just writing a comment to recommend you to read chapter 10 "Death" from Nick Lane's book "Life Ascending". It is an explanation of why and how ageing happens, but from the point of view of evolutionary biology. You would be amazed how it connects all that you are saying on this channel together, from effects of caloric restriction on ageing, signalling properties of insulin in sex/longevity tradeoff, signalling effects of free radicals on internal workings of cells that triggers immune response and apoptosis, as well as what could be done about it medicine-wise and lifestyle-wise. Following your channel for a long time, I am sure it will help your work a lot. Thanks for all your content! This channel is becoming very unique for avoidance to dumb down complex matters and deliver well-explained and hence solid recommendations.

61 and have very little inflammation. Feel way better now then 20 years ago. Mainly eat real foods, IF, daily exercise and supplements

More of this topic in “Eat Right 4 Your Type.” We have a variety of antibodies and gut ecosystems, and it explains why one man’s meat is another man’s inflammation/poison. This book got me off corn syrup in 1998 when I read it. So glad to see this channel teaching these topics! As a blood type minority, I have to question studies that don’t control for it, however.
