Mace Windu - A Symbol Of The Jedi Downfall

A total jerk is what many people, especially Anakin, would call the legendary jedi master Mace Windu, and I would have to agree to a certain extent. Mace wasn’t the nicest of Jedi, but extremely powerful and that’s why his opinion was so respected and vital inside the Jedi council. In this video I express my thoughts about his character and what I like and dislike about his beliefs.

Count Dooku once said that the Jedi Order's biggest problem is Yoda. Yoda put Mace in the position of power, which made the jedi more like politicians. But we blame Mace.

Boba: I'll never give in. You killed my father!
Mace: No Boba. You ARE your father.

Fun fact: Samuel L. Jackson and Hayden Christensen, the actors of both Mace Windu and Anakin Skywalker later gets cast in the movie known as “Jumper” three years later. So it is kinda ironic to later see both casts which Samuel beats the crap out of Hayden in the movie, especially after Revenge of the Sith.

The way Mace talks to Boba in Clone Wars shows everything. He is talking to a child whose father he had killed and instead of apologising or doing literally anything good, he tells him that he'll have to forgive him. He was trying to assert his 'superiority' over a child.

If any man were to survive that fall, it would've been Mace. despite that i do believe that he died, between the trauma from losing a hand and being shocked half to death then being flung to his death its very unlikely he could've regained enough compusure to slow his fall enough to live.

- Kills a kid's father, and instead of sympatysing with him, and helping him understand, he just goes "Well your problem lmao"
- Rants about Jedi acting independently from the Senate, but expels an obviously innocent Ahsoka, because of backlash from the Senate. Then, after she's proven innocent he called it her "great trial", that it was good that all of this happened, and doesn't even fucking apologise
- Doesn't trust Anakin, who clearly has problems with the Order, and instead of trying to understand him, he shuts him down at every step of the day
- Doesn't share information with Ahsoka because "CoUnciL sTufF, ciTizEn"
- Doesn't grant Anakin the rank of master, because he never wanted him to be on the Council; Anakin's there just so they can send him to spy on Palpatine
- Doesn't let Anakin go along with Obi-Wan to take on Grievous, so he can spy on Anakin's friend, and a potential Sith Lord; both making Anakin feel bad, and sending him to be alone with someone who wants to use him, while also shutting down Anakin once again
- Doesn't bring Anakin along, to help him take down the most powerful person in the galaxy
- One time that he should follow the Jedi way, he goes against it, just when Anakin suggests to do so

Mace is so fucking awful, and ignorant that I almost think his death was more than deserved

Anakin: *Sends R2D2 to save both Mace and his own lives* next *Fights side by side with him in the Outer Rim* next *Saves Mace’s life by getting the last number of the detonation code*

Mace Windu: I don’t trust him.

There is a 0% chance that he survived that fall. It's clearly stated in the novel that Palpatine's lighting killed him. All that fell was his lifeless corpse, symbolic of how far the Jedi both have and would fall both symbolically and literally in the past and the days to come.

Aside from Qui-Gon Jinn Mace was the ONLY Jedi Palpatine feared and wanted to destroy most of all. Mace was the 2nd closest to being balanced in the force due to his fighting style Vapaad. His downfall was his own arrogance, he believed he was doing the right thing with every choice he made. After seeing the fallout from his choices he adapted, admitted his mistakes and moved on.

Had he not been so sure of himself and his answers to problems he'd have come out ok

Mace Windu created a self fulfilled prophecy in regard to Anakin. He never trusted him from the beginning and it ended up being what got him and the rest of the Jedi wiped out. He gave him no benefit of the doubt, no support, and always showed never believed Anakin was one of them and didn't belong as a Jedi. As years went by, he continued to show and basically tell Anakin he didn't trust him at all. He was dead set on the belief Anakin would turn on them and kept bringing up he didn't trust him at all; despite all Anakin did throughout the Clone Wars; including saving his life. Even when Anakin did as he told, spied on Palpatine, and reported his findings, Windu STILL didn't trust Anakin and forced him to stay behind instead of letting him come to bring the Chancellor in and stop the Sith. So, when Anakin turned, a major part of it was Windu's fault. Since he showed no concern or even attempt to help Anakin with his training and said he didn't trust him, Windu created that prophecy and brought about his own doom as well as the Jedi Order's death.

If he had simply shared his knowledge with Anakin, devoted himself to helping him balance between the light and dark side, and been more accepting instead of turning him, Anakin would probably turn out fine. Mace would've probably been still alive and still be sitting in his seat on the Jedi Council. Mace could've saved himself, the Jedi, and the Republic long ago. Instead, he ended up being a key instrument to their destruction because he already declared a boy he couldn't be trusted and believed firmly he was evil until the very end.

I heard Mace did survive. He fell though a glass ceiling of a building. But ultimately was killed about 3 years later

The problem was mace was jealous of Anakin and his powers. He always thought he was the prophecy and when Anakin came along he did whatever he could to snuff him of any chance of reaching his true potential. When Anakin reveals Palpatine is a sith he selfishly goes to end the senator himself to show that he was the one in the prophecy and ended up dying because of it. It was Mace that turned Anakin to the dark side, not Palpatine.

You forgot to cover that he was an incompetent military commander, or even law enforcement officer. At the Battle of Geonosis, the roughly 200 Jedi who went had two objectives. Primary: Arrest the Separatist leadership. Secondary: Rescue Senator Amidala, Master Kenobi and Padawan Skywalker. Rather than really focusing on either objective, Mace scattered his forces around the arena for no particular reason, given that the Geonosians can *fly* and thus exit the arena without having to fight their way past the Jedi. Mace, arrogant as you correctly observe, goes *alone* to confront the Separatist leaders. He wastes his lightsaber holding Jango Fett, a mere hireling, at bay while facing Count Dooku, a Jedi *Master* (and not-so-secret Sith Lord). He seems to expect everyone to just surrender now that *he* has arrived! Instead, the Separatist battle droids march into the nice, round, enclosed arena and nearly all of the Jedi are *killed* with only a handful of survivors. The Separatist leaders *all* escape (Jango wasn't a leader in the movement), thus launching the Clone Wars. If Mace were a regular military commander or police captain, he would have been court-martialed and/or fired in disgrace!

This youtuber deserves more subscribers, I was surprised to see how little subscribers this youtuber has with such good and amazing content, this is a compliment

Jackson is a great actor but Mace was a complete prick and represented the blind arrogance of the Jedi Council.

My personal opinion is I think mace windu knew how powerful Anakin was going to become he knew that one day him and the jadi council we're going to be insignificant in their achievements to Anakin

Why do people complain the jedi lost their way and bring up the guy who followed the jedi code the best as the problem lol. Just say the Jedi code is wrong. You guys act like the code was some recent invention by new jedi.

Mace also has the power to see shatterpoints, in people and situations. It’s clear that he didn’t trust Anakin because he could see how the young Jedi was surrounded by the dark side. I mean, he did massacre an entire village of Tusken Raiders including women and children when he was still a padawan.

He already started off as the worse in my book when he dragged the Jedi into the middle of a colosseum filled with droids gunning them down in any direction instead of waiting for the Republic gunships to arrive with backup.

Because of that reckless decision, only 18% of the Jedi survived in the geonosis battle.
