I could have sworn that i read somewhere that Mace Windu was trained by a female Master. I know for a fact that it wasn't Yoda.

My interpretation from "Tales of the Jedi" mini series, Mace Windu backstabbed/ threw Dooku under the Bus in order to look good in front of the Jedi Council.

I may be mistaken by remembering that Dooku and Mace's names were the ones considered for the open seat.

I DO know that at the end of the episode, Mace was granted the open seat. Though, he betrayed Dooku to get it.
