This is a struggle I've had ever since my first job after college. The free time after work, I would want to relax and unwind and neglect my hobby of drawing. This continues for several years. I picked up knitting, crocheting, a little bit of sewing, and a few other hobbies that I never dug deep enough into. I want to focus on drawing again because I haven't improved for the many years I've stopped. It's always hard juggling work and then trying to give your all to a hobby. This is a great inspiration. Thank you!

You have such a great way to feel inspired! I realized my love for watercolor by reading the Artist's way when my Therapist said that I needed to find something that I enjoyed, remembering that my college professor said that when she was in an artist's funk she would read the Artist's Way by Julia Cameron, So I began the 12 week program, and came out of it with a desire to paint with watercolor and photograph what inspired me! I am so thankful for your inspirational video, you are right, I realized that as a little girl I would want to watercolor, instead of playing outside, or playing with dolls, it was painting. Your advice is so sound! Big Thank you!

Excellent advice! I loved to color in my coloring books and draw pictures as a child. Now I am an artist and my favorite thing to do is give painting lessons to children to nurture their passion for art at a young age.

hello Mrs Mason, drawing and painting has been in me since the earliest memory I have.... I have travel to various mediums in painting and also I took classes with a Spanish Painter in Puerto Rico (Maestro Azaustre) in my early teens... I have paint in Oils and Acrylics also pastels and color pencils; but since 2012 I have been learning and painting with watercolors... I am an accountant but always have been doing my drawings and paintings. Art for me is a passion and a way to escape the harsh reality of life.... I never have decided to do my art as a form of making a living, but I have notice that now that I am 58 years, art have more meaning than when I was young.... I have seen your Technic and I have learn a lot by watching your videos over and over.... I want to thank you for your videos and your hints... Yes I am puertorrican but living in Indianapolis IN - USA. Selling my art... Wao!!! that will be nice.... Am I that good? good question!!! will see; I might have my dream in my older age possibly!!! Have a nice day madam.... Walt.

I loved to draw and colour as a child. I went into academics and left it completely. I became a teacher and worked for about 16 yrs, and painted once in a while, only. Last year, I left my job to practice painting and devote myself to it completely.

I don't remember my passions at 8 years old, except for remberimg my mother giving me a coloring book and telling me to not go outside the lines. Talk about stifling creativity. I love watercolor painting and I struggle with letting myself be free. I want to control the watercolor paint. Thank you for this incite. I have some thinking to

I too loved to doodle and paint as a child and now in my 50's I picked up a paint brush and love it.

I think I loved to decorate my room, read books, do arts and crafts, and most of all write poetry and essays (but now I can't manage to write anything creatively for the life of me, instead I write urban policy for developing countries for a living). I've always loved my parent's botanical prints and fine china collections though, and I would love to bring some color and creativity into my life through painting!

Wow u know what I just found this video of yours and you would not believe me at all but this is exactly me. Even I thought the same thing as you said, be the same about the dinosaur or love for watercolor. The funny thing my sister calls me a dinosaur and I love that too. But alas nothing such happened nor painting nor digging up fossils of dinosaur my fortune made me something else and after soo many years, again watercolor and painting entered my life as a hobby. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and letting me share my feelings about the same. I loved your video and your artwork is amazing I admire your work and you as an artist. Thanks again.

Before the age of 8, my favorite thing to do was coloring in coloring books. These days that translates to painting! I'm learning watercolor. I have some experience in acrylics and a wee bit in oils, but watercolors are another story - very different!

Great video Anna! 😆 I wanted to be an artist and then with art still being in the background, I wanted to be one of the first female F-15 pilots. I still get all giggly & awed when they fly over...lol. 😉 I used to sit at dad's work bench in the garage, listening to music while drawing & designing my own fighter jets...I was 12 then. That xmas I got a faux leather bomber jacket & a huge heavy book on fighter planes. That was a fun time. lol 😃Now I burn wood with my art.

Hi Anna, I love that you talked about this and gave us some advice. I'm the type of person who is guilty of trying out many hobbies to find my passion but none stick with me. It does get disheartening over time and the feeling of hopelessness sometimes comes. However, I can't remember a time when I don't have a pressure to be a certain way. Even when I was little (before 8 years old); I was already a people pleaser & very conscious of what people around me wants me to be/do. I never had the freedom to choose any activities. Other than studying, I was only allowed to watch tv or play with dolls. Do you have any suggestions on what a person like me can do to figure out my true passion? Have you ever meet other people without childhood clues but can successfully identify their passion?

Dinosaurs! You need to come visit us here in Alberta, Canada! We have a large amount of dinosaur fossils here! Love your art and I aspire to one day be able to paint as good!
