I appreciate the honesty, but that didn’t help me overcome my fear of turbulence.

For those of you worried about the "yes" answer, just know that since the start of the jet age, only one commercial flight has ever been brought down due to turbulence (BOAC flight 911 in 1966) and it flew into a particular type of turbulence that we understand very well now and know how to avoid. On top of that, airframe strength has improved massively in the last 50 years, so if a modern jet flew into that kind of turbulence, it would probably survive anyway.

Turbulence makes my heart Beat More Faster

One suggestion that really works for me! I am very nervous while the turbulence but if you look through the window and fix your eyes on the horizon, like a contra point, notice that it is steady. It really works contra to the fear/panic in your brain and although you are fighting your nerves you are not letting them control you! :)

So glad I'm not alone in my flying fear.

I fly a lot and I hate turbulence. I hate when the plane drops. My biggest fear is that I am going to have a heart attack. I hate roller-coasters or amusement rides.

It would also be nice if pilots would inform passengers the severity and time length of the turbulence. This often doesn't happen.

I've taken 15 hour direct flights with majority of it turbulent. It's the worst feeling.

A heads would be appreciated.

Yes turbulence makes my heart beat very fast... I try to be calm then I start thinking what can go wrong... I hate flying sometimes

I dislike when they announce there will be turbulence. That makes me stress before time. Seems unnecessary, let me experience it once we get there, don’t make me worry beforehand

This did not say how to actually overcome the fear. And the car parallel is completely different. I'm not 30 thousand plus feet off of the ground. I love flying, but anything but mild turbulence absolutely sets off my anxiety.

Nice Video. Could tell me things I need to prepare before joining flight school?

I think what scares me about turbulence is the fact that on an airplane your 30-40ft in the air so to be shaking around that high in the air is very unerving.

My favorite pilot
I wish to be on a flight ✈️ one day with you as my captain 👨‍✈️
Lots of love from Ghana

It was all good until he admitted the plane could go down. I don't think people who don't have a phobia understand how serious that fear and anxiety is. With that being said...I think leaving that bit of truth out would've been better. My flight is in 3 hrs and all I know is... it's possible. Pray for me guys 😫

I flew for 15 1/2 years. There was one instance of turbulence that was terrifying. Tulsa to Oklahoma city. I thought it was a midair collision. A huge bang then the a/c began a violent rapid descent. The captain pulled it out of this plunge and had his hands full just to keep the a/c stable. He turned around and headed back to Tulsa. There was no warning whatsoever. The overhead bins and O2 masks dropped down ( no loss of pressurization) garbage came out of trash bins, which on a 727 is almost impossible due to the bins location. Debris just flew around the cabin hitting passengers. What a mess. The plane was grounded in Tulsa and we dead- headed back to n.y. the next day. I never have experienced anything close to that violent incident before or since.

I was here to try to overcome my fear of flying but the "yes" made me even more anxious. Thanks for that...

Now this is comforting. I have been always a nervous passenger and just experienced a scary plane drop yesterday during our descend. I know it's just an air pocket but it's so scary that almost all of us passengers screamed 😭

For all the people that are afraid of turbulence, the last time a plane crashed due to turbulence was more then 50 years ago. Thousands of planes fly every day and when was the last time u heard about a plane crash due to turbulence??? I would say never in my life time.
Modern aircraft and weather reports are so advanced that the chance of any such accident is pretty much zero. So sit back, relax and enjoy ur flight.
