Thank you! Such an important topic! As a vegetarian for 40 years my iron level is always low. Additionally, I don’t drink coffee and drink copious amounts of tea! I take a prescription iron supplement but have to time it to an hour before or after drinking tea - which is the hardest part of my day 😂! Losing lots of hair due to pre-menopause but I’m sure it’s related to my low iron level too!

I’m so glad I’m came across your video this has help me understand more about my issue I am anemic and very low on iron. I was very sick I had get to the emergency room for blood transfusion it’s been almost 3 months and I have notice I’m loosing a lot of hair and yes it’s depressing but I’m glad know this is not a permanent thing and there’s hope, thanks for making this video and explaining

Thank you for sharing. Very helpful video for those out there who are having iron deficiency hair loss without anemia. I was in this boat.

Important to note, dermatologist recommended that ferritin levels should be at least 50 for hair shedding to stop and 70 for hair growth to take place.

My own story, I had really bad hair loss and when my blood was checked I had a ferritin level of 12 and no anemia.

It has taken 2 years of supplementing to get my hair back on its right growth cycle. It felt like forever but I'm so glad it's now sorted.

My hair was thinning since 2022 i never noticed until someone pointed out my blad spot after that i tried every home remedy to every oil nothing helped so i cut my long hairs to short thinking it'll regrow unfortunately my hair started to thin later in 2023 one of my friend suggested me a dermatologist my dermat gave me tests and i was diagnosed with iron deficiency chornic Anemia. My hemoglobin was 8.2 that time now after 10 months of treatment my hemoglobin increased to 12 still my hair is taking a lot time to grow back to the earlier like! It's depressing tbh this journey of hairloss.

This subject is a very frustrating issue for me. My ferritin levels dropped to 8 after donating blood and my hair began falling out by the handful - 3 or 4 handfuls per day! I went on a high heme iron diet and after a month of that my ferritin levels only increased to 9. After that I began eating a high heme diet every other day with foods rich in vitamin C. The next month my ferritin levels jumped up to 11 - still very low. I think the low ferritin levels affected my thyroid as my tsh went up from 2.2 to 3.7 though my doctor said it was still in the normal range. Really?!! In about 4 months I lost about half of my hair - especially in the crown area of my head. I had to cut 11" of my very long hair because the thinning made my hair look thin and scraggly. I got food poisoning in December and my ferritin level shot up to 30 which is still lower than the goal, but my hair loss has mostly normalized except it is still concentrated on the frontal crown area. I have some new hair growth but my hair seems to be growing more slowly than normal. I'm concerned that the ferritin level increase is temporary and as a result of the food poisoning and that it will fall again and the hair loss will increase again. Are there health conditions that make a body resistant to increasing ferritin?

Started taking geritol in the morning and an iron pill at night. My ferritin is at 6. I lose a LOT of blood during my monthly. My hair has been shedding like crazy and I’m now balding at the crown. Sheesh.
