Welcome back to Mary's Test Kitchen where I always say, there are no rules...Except when making a really good tofu scramble that separates those who simply use tofu in a scramble and those those who truly understand tofu in a scramble, there might be one or two.

This video will show you the basics to make a delicious, uncomplicated scramble the avoids the common mistakes. It's not grainy. Not watery. Neither chalky or oily. It's smooth and fluffy. With a subtle eggy flavour.

Fresh medium firm (AKA traditional) tofu is very mild tasting, making it an excellent base for making a "soft-cooked" vegan scramble. Infused with the flavours of garlic, white pepper, and soy sauce, this tofu scramble recipe makes a delicious breakfast with touch of Asian flair!

Use this easy simple tofu scramble recipe as a jumping off point for your own! Be sure to keep in the white pepper, soy sauce and black salt (kala namak) for the eggy flavour. And while the garlic lover in me is tempted to say the garlic is also mandatory, the rest is really up to you!

For inexpensive black salt, find it at your local Indian grocery store! I got a big bag (that should all year) for only $3.

I make this all the time. I love how much it resembles what I think eggs were like lol. Anyhow it’s a staple in my house and I’m quite often use it in wraps. I like to make a bunch on my day off and wrap them all up in burrito style with whatever I have on hand sometimes this bell peppers and mushrooms other times it’s other things anyhow, I love it and it’s better than any other tofu scramble that I have ever tried so thank you, Mary 😊

I have been making this since you first posted the recipe. It’s absolutely the best. I absolutely love adding bell peppers, mushrooms and onions along with so many other variations. Thank you so much I’m sure I’ve posted here more than once but I just want to say again I love this recipe ❤️

Tofu scramble was the first thing I ever made my wife. When we started talking I sent her a photo and she said she liked the look of it. So I said I’d make it for her and I did. Now it’s a regular meal. :p

I enjoy the taste of tofu so I personally don't feel the need to make it taste it eggy. I do enjoy adding the Turmeric since I have it and for its health properties. Thanks for the video! I've made tofu scramble twice now, and really enjoy eating tofu this way :)

I’m a sucker for some nutritional yeast in there, too! I’ve never tried it with white pepper and soy sauce, so keen to give it a go :)

Looks delicious! I love tofu scramble, I dont use black salt though. Sulfur is what I didnt like about eggs, so I like the tofu scramble for what it is! This recipe is definitely something I will try bar the black salt.

I like extra firm tofu when making scramble and I use a paper towel and squeeze the juice out no need to wait for it to evaporate in the pan. I like garlic, peppers and onions with the black salt, turmeric and smoked paprika it is so good my husband and I eat it all the time.

Why is it that everytime I watch tofu scramble I desperately want to make it? This one looks extra delicious, I'd never separated the tofu in the pan, I usually do it before with my hands, but I can see now it's pointless to bother lol. This works super well! The tofu than I can get to is usually firmer than this one, though, but I like it all the same.
I also love how it's also so versatile, you can add any extras that you like. I usually make mine with onions and garlic and I add nutritional yeast (after the turmeric for colour) and some hot sauce. It's so good!

This is by far the most simplest, quick & easy, fast warm tasting vegan side meal to make. I love it! Keep up the great recipe....btw can you make a vegan tofu bacon video if you don't already have
