Thanks for a wonderful in depth review. It’s so hard to find both a tester that knows what they’re talking about and is also impartial when it comes to Teslas as most reviewers in the US are owners of the vehicle themselves, and so have a unrealized bias towards confirming their purchasing decision.

So glad to see the blue.. All I have seen so far are white Teslas in Vic... This is my colour of choice and I think the Model Y is the car I'll get in a couple years when hopefully I am comfy with the charging infrastructure for country wide travel. I think the Model X just isn't worth the massive cost over this, and the only thing I would change is to add one of the MANY available HUD options that slit and go up and down with the wheel. I know I'll get used to the middle screen but I don't WANT to, and the HUDS look fantastic and are cheap (relatively speaking). Blue with the light interior. Sold! I hope by then though that Tesla considers adding adaptive dampers, and also I wonder if the Aussie cars will lose Ultrasonic sensors.. I need to see Tesla's camera updates in action before I am convinced.

Paul, I have watched your channel for several years now, mainly the Phev/EV, reviews. And without a doubt you are the best vehicle reviewer in Australia. And certainly better than some reviews outside Australia. So thankyou and team. Keep up the Brilliant work. 👏👍👍

Hi Paul, love you work mate. I'm not an EV fan personally but watch the reviews on them and hearing you talk about how bad the safety systems are and the cruise control etc just blows me away. As you said how on earth does Tesla sell these to customers when they know they're so bad? Shows they don't really give a stuff about their customers as they know they're not getting the things they're being charged for and with these things being over 6 figures drive away that's a disgrace. Cars a third of the price have those systems and they work a hell of a lot better than on this thing.. Good on you for calling all the shortcomings out mate.. Cheers..

MYP just makes it simply way more fun; and manageable as a family car with a lower suspension - performs better when thrown in corners compared to the Long Range Model Y.

Good to watch this retrospectively. I’m coming up to 12 months since I got my MYP and this is a comprehensive and reasonable review. I’ve enjoyed some of software updates that have come along since I’ve purchased the Performance. Sadly I can definitely confirm that kerb rash is very easy to achieve with the 21” Uberturbines, and after a year I’ve decided to get it fixed and start again! Overall I really love this car and would happily recommend it.

Hi Paul, I turn the auto high beam off every time after engaging autopilot by pushing the indicator stalk away from the driver. The auto high beam is simply useless in its current form. 2:48.

Congrats on your new Tesla Paul. We test drove one MYP here in UK and we were so impressed by it's performance, practicality and tech. But, we ended up buying a slightly used M3P a few days later and we will never go back to ICE cars. It is just an amazing car and i get free charge at work.

Do you know if the standard model Y 2023 get the comfort dampers? I've been delaying an order until this is confirmed.

How do you find that the iPad on Wheels interferes with your eyes on the road? Don’t you miss having certain buttons for shortcut features? I can’t talk with my slow performing MG screen, but I miss shortcut buttons!! 😢

Good balanced review. Thanks Paul. I want to love it, but it's just not quite there. Still pretty amazing.

Good honest review. Certainly needs more work for the high price (I drive a Model 3 LR)

Well, I just ordered one, so I agree with all the positive cmments you made, and all the negative ones naturally won't apply to me or don't matter.

Paul. The 250kw charging is only achievable at a Tesla supercharger. A CCS2 plug standard is limited to 500A as show when charging. Tesla superchargers can achieve 650+A on 400v battery to achieve full 250kw.

Charging speed of model Y was limited by maximum current of DC charger (500A). For 400 V battery maximum is 400x500=200kW, depending on actual voltage. 800V battery has twice the voltage so it could teoretically charge 2x faster with same current.

I assumed the Performance was the one to go for.... looks like the base model is the sweet spot.

Interesting video. I, too, owned a Model 3 Performance. I think we got seduced by the savage acceleration and the fantastic tech. BUT....the ride quality, the handling, the braking and build quality were awful. Eventually my family begged me to get rid of it because of the horrible ride quality and the fact that after just 15, 000km, the car had more creaks and groans than a sinking ship. They really need to work harder on the ride and handling and now....the way Mr Musk keeps dropping the price on these things, depreciation could also be a bit of a worry!

So in Australia Tesla's are still being delivered with ultrasonic sensors?
