Tesla Model Y 2023 build quality review and problems within few days of ownership

2023 Tesla Model Y Performance Build Quality. It really needs improvements but it has come a long way. This Tesla Model Y is built in Fremont California. Tesla cars are know for having build quality issues and few minor fixed that Tesla Service Center is more than welcoming in taking care at their earliest convenience. I had issues with Charging Port Lid and they replaced that with a new one. I had right side repeater camera failed after driving in the rain and it caused Autopilot to become unavailable and no blindspot camera access on the right side. Both major issues were fixed within few hours leaving car at the Tesla Service Center.

I just received mine 2 weeks ago. While I haven't noticed any quality build issues, I'm already considering trading it in after just 150 miles. This car is uncomfortable. It flares up my lower back pain to about an 8 in the pain scale. Yes, it is fast and fun to drive, but I do not recommend this car to anyone over 40 or back issues. I will take a loss, but confort is too important to me at this point in my life. I give this car a 10 in performance and technology but a 3 in ride quality and confort.

How biased are you?... you just mentioned the camera, the charging flap, the seat liner, the front bumper, (and I noticed a bunch more misalignments and gaps when you were walking around the car). it's more like 4 out of 10. Cars of this price and segment should be way better put together, as it's evident with BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and even cars like the Kia EV6 has less build quality issues...

Quite happy and excited when I received my MY in Feb2023 however after three months I discovered some quality issues like the fender squeaks when lightly pushed, mis-aligned hood (gap on the passenger side wider than the driver side). Tesla service replaced/fixed the finder clips but it required a second service (mobile) because many of the vent cowl cover (under the hood) clips that broke during the repair process were not replaced. The squeak on the fender (closest to the passenger) was fix under warranty but the section near the headlights/bumper still squeaks and Tesla offered to fix it at my cost. Tesla claims no warranty coverage for normal noise and vibration. What's is considered "normal" and who defines "normal".

I've been debating whether or not go for this vehicle but the quality control issues are concerning to me. Is incredible that after these many years they haven't figured out yet how to solve them.

Watching your video, it seems like Tesla build quality has improved, it used to be very bad. I love American cars but the interior quality is sub par. I found Japanese interior quality to be much better, European cars even better.

I've had my model Y for just over a year now, ran into a few initial issues with rattles. My biggest issue with the vehicle is that is marketed as an SUV but is more like a car that sits high, the ground clearance is laughable, and the fact its shaped like a computer mouse doesn't help with storage. We also have an Outback which is a far more capable "SUV" even though its also a tall car.
Charging network is the best reason to own a Tesla in my opinion, as its reliable and readily available. We live in an area with long cold winters and see quite a bit of snow, the range loss is quite real.

2022 Model 3 Performance owner here. 4500 miles and it’s absolutely perfect. My first Tesla and I’m blown away. Acceleration. Seat comfort. Stereo quality. The screen. The capabilities.

I am continuing to be amused by people who buy these cars knowing about the poor quality they will be experiencing. It's like a badge of honor to buy one of these and find the defects so you can make a video about it to say how proud you are for buying a poorly made vehicle. Tesla has been saying for years now they will resolve the quality issue and here is proof they don't care because as long as they can get away with quality issue they won't resolve it. That's they way some businesses are. It's about profitability of the company, maximize your profits while minimizing costs.

4:34 major gap issue at right front wiper, touching and pointing up. 4:42 same issue, there's a step from roof to trunk panel. And you say no gap issues????

Very minor issues you would find in any car if you're just plain unlucky Glad to hear Tesla fixed it quickly. For such a cheap price (currently) with a pioneer in EV market I'd accept a couple of issues here and there. Nothing is perfect :)
