I've been doing Invisalign for 3 months now and I find you can also eat things like ice cream, mashed potatoes, soups.... anything that doesn't require real chewing. You just have to make sure it's not too hot or you can warp your trays. I have also been working from home since COVID started, so I can be a little more reckless than other people when it comes to doing things that might stain them. Especially on Sunday nights when I know I'm changing to a new tray anyway.

Thank you for making this video, I have definitely struggled trying to get my trays out! I've only had them now for six days. My issue is that I'm really trying to abide by keeping them in 22 hours. That basically means I inhale every meal I eat so that I still have time to brush my teeth and my trays and get them back in my mouth in a timely manner. I use the app that has a timer on it. With the options being 15 minutes, 30 minutes or 45 minutes. It helps keep track of how many hours you wore it in a 24 hour period. So for example let's say I set the timer for 30 minutes. Like I said that means I have a little time to eat, Clean my trays, brush my teeth, and then get the trays back in my mouth. That's pretty tough to do in 30 minutes. However if I try to do all of that in 45 minutes it's still pushing it. I feel like I have to inhale every meal I eat. With regular braces I would still brush after eating, but there would not be a time constraint on how much time I had to eat. Also as it turns out I will have to get attachments. They do show which is fine with me, however I'm thinking I should've just gotten regular braces if it's going to be obvious I'm wearing something that's straightening my teeth, that would've decreased the cost. I can't imagine going through this for a possible 18 months. I suspect that's why some people lose weight, for me I sometimes I think it's almost a hassle to try and eat. I'll be able to manage the pain, I wore regular braces many years ago and was OK with that. I wish I had known about the major differences between Invisalign and traditional braces. Just putting my experience out there so someone who might be on the fence understands the commitment you're making especially after spending so much money.

Thanks bro that was precious info and an insightful review! Definitely much better than all those "professional's " reviews, which actually tell you nothing.

I have never drank anything but water with mine and never ever ate with them in. I take them out if I drink anything else but water and I brush right after. Best advice I can give is invest in an ultrasonic cleaner, 180 seconds and your good to go. I use to use 1 part 3%peroxide and 10 parts water and let them soak as I brush, I loved watching the bubbles because I knew they would be clean afterwards. I treated my trays like I did my teeth by always brushing them with a bit of toothpaste everytime I brushed my teeth. I would never imagine eating with them on because I would always think of all the food that would stay in them. I have a ton of experience with invisalign due to how long I have been in my treatment and you definitely learn the do's and don'ts pretty quick lol.

You could use some denture cleaning tablets on them to get rid of the smell in the morning.

Aussie here. About to sign up this week. Pretty apprehensive. “Mature age” patient now (55), had metal braces in my early 30’s which worked wonders but then a disappointing run in with dentist saw a lost retainer wire not replaced. Within 6months teeth had moved back mostly. I understand Invisalign has a retainer to wear at night but is there also any form of wire put in place behind front teeth at all ? Great video. Really helpful and actually comforting.

I’m getting mine in a few weeks and I’m nervous about the eating part. A lot of people say you lose weight and I’m not trying to lose weight 😩

Good vid. I don’t chance eating with them in, you’re brave. I brush my teeth after I eat and my trays when I take them out so I haven’t experienced this smell you and others have mentioned.

2 weeks into it. I have found so far that using my thumb and forefinger to pinch and pull down one of the corners and then repeat other side seems to work for me. I got Efferdent and use that each day.
